You know, it was so nice of Buffy to let me move in. Not that I had much to move in. The witness protection program for powers didn't let me take anything with me. But I thought of my apartment. Maybe there was something there that would be useful? It was probably looted and infested with six legged beasts. I was afraid to go back.

But I did it anyway. I unlocked the door and went inside and found I was right. All my plants were dead, everything coated with dust. No one had been here in who knew how long. I went to my room and dug out some clothes. I found some handy magic things, too. Basically I took whatever belonged to me. There wasn't much.

And as I was about to leave, I opened the door and considered for a second whether or not I wanted to take one last look around. Because over there was where I took care of Ben when he almost died, right here was where he had told me he loved me... I guess it wasn't an understatement to say I missed him terribly.

Taking in a heavy sigh, I walked out without looking back.

I decided to check in on Dex. I knew he'd be at work right now and I knew he wouldn't recognize me. I didn't care. He was pretty cool to me even though... well, he was pretty cool. I wondered about Jackie on the way there, too. Wouldn't you know it, back in the pet department, I saw something I didn't expect. Dex and Jackie were talking. Amazing timing on my part to show up when she decided to basically attack him about me. And I could see Dex was losing patience with her. He didn't need to get fired.

"She's alright." I said aloud. They turned around and looked at me for a long minute. "Some things happened, but Lilly's fine. And she's sorry she left without saying anything." They still could find nothing to say. But I got a distinct feeling, telling me I needed to leave, and I did. I was relieved when they didn't chase after me.

On the way home, I figured it out: Today was the day to let everything go. It'll never be the same again.
