Sam died a few days ago, I found pieces of her body. She left after a demon without back-up. I should have been with her, I should have been there, not her. I didn't feel like going back into the field, so she went. That should have been me. Her blood, it was everywhere, pieces of her body. She was ripped apart, the demon was still there when I got there. Needless to say I lost it, I didn't just neutralize him, I let him have it. I messed my arm up and have bruises all over my chest and stomach, and a nice gash from where his damn claw got me, right across my chest. Damn animal, I killed him, twisted his head right off. Soaked with blood, I fell to the floor, the tears streaming down my face.

A few of the guys came and checked on me when Sam and I didn't come back right away. The GPS located led them to me. Then they called the CO in, well he had a blast, telling me how sorry he was. She was a good soldier, things like that. I couldn't take it, I left. The CO gave me some time off, told me to come back when I was ready to get back to work. I was so frustrated at the way they just swept everything under the rug...as if it never happened.

I went to sleep and kept having nightmare's walking into that room again, waking up sweating. I got up and used the labtop to do a quick check on my e-mail, and read the e-mail from Willow.

Hey Riley,
I thought I'd write you a quick email. Sam doesn't seem to be answering hers anymore. Is everything okay out there? How are you? Let me know, ok?
Talk to you later,
Willow

I looked at the screen and wiped away the stray tears. Willow wow. I remember Sam mentioning her a few times, but didn't really dwell on it, was always work. I realized that I had to tell Willow, and it wasn't something I could do over the internet or the phone. I went back into work and found that she was in L.A. So I drove to L.A.

I needed some time to collect myself before I went and talked to Willow, found a nice bar. Walked in, had a few drinks. Talked with the bartender, Emily. She was really nice, she's from Iowa too. The bar was actually really nice, I mean had regular's and Emily had this thing with letting people leave and driving drunk. Per orders of the boss lady, who well know I know is Oz's ex. Oz...even has a cute little girl, her name is Willow. Go figure...and Emily, she has my keys. Got to go back and get them from her. And then maybe talk some more, find a little about what is going on in Willow's life before I just jump into it, "hi...Sam died. How are you?" that didn't seem like a good idea, not right now. Not that Emily would know, but I still needed my keys, plus seeing her again, that'd be nice.
