A NIGHT IN
by
skyangel2009 Oishi walked around his apartment cleaning every last item in it. Currently he was working on dusting everything that could possibly be dusted, but nothing seemed to be as clean as he wanted it to be. He was beginning to remember what his professor of abnormal psychology, a class he'd taken on a whim, said about obsessive compulsive disorder and had to shake his head. He wasn't OCD. He just wanted everything to be perfect for when Tezuka arrived for their date. Oishi had put a lot of effort into planning the night so that it would be perfect and now he just needed to get his apartment clean before Tezuka arrived. It didn't matter that he and Tezuka had been living together since high school and that his boyfriend knew how messy Oishi could get. Tonight had to be perfect and that meant the apartment had to be spotless.
Oishi groaned and knelt down at the coffee table in front of their couch. He sprayed it with the liquid that would attract all the dust and make it all go away. With long, deliberate strokes he worked until he could see his reflection in the wood and then worked a little more to make sure there weren't any streaks in it. He moved on to the TV, leaving the screen for now since he wasn't doing glass just yet and dusted not just the top but the front and sides. Once the apartment was clean he let out a sigh of relief. He still had two hours before Tezuka would be back from his lab so Oishi took the opportunity to work on his own class work. First, he needed a shower so that he wouldn't have to worry about saving time for that after homework. He could let his hair dry without using the blow dryer and as long as he set the alarm for thirty minutes before Tezuka was due home he'd have plenty of time to get dressed.
With a quick look at his planner he figured out that he should work on his project for his classic literature course, but that would require spreading out all over the living room and he'd just spent the better part of the afternoon cleaning it. He promptly skipped over that assignment and moved on to the next one. Luckily he had a bunch of reading so he grabbed the necessary text books and settled down on the bed he'd been sharing with Tezuka for years now. He curled up beneath the covers and settled in with the intent on getting at least a little ahead in his reading assignments. Tezuka had convinced him to only take four classes that semester after taking six courses for three straight semesters. He was also taking classes that grabbed his attention and not courses he was required to take with the exception of his lit class. The textbook currently in his lap was for human sexuality and though the lecture often made him blush he enjoyed it.
Oishi woke with a jolt to his alarm blaring at him. He turned it off and then belatedly realized that he wasn't alone. Tezuka was sitting on the bed by Oishi's feet towel drying his hair. "You're back early," Oishi said softly.
Tezuka looked up at him. "What did you do today that you fell asleep on your human sexuality textbook? Usually it's your literature book that puts you to sleep."
Oishi couldn't help the slight pout that formed on his lips. "You didn't notice how clean the place is for once?" he demanded.
Tezuka leaned over and kissed his forehead. "You got this place that spotless all by yourself while still attending all three of your classes today?" he asked.
Oishi nodded and reached up to tangle his fingers in Tezuka's hair. "I had it all planned out so that everything, including me, would be ready for you when you got home, but I guess I was a little tired and fell asleep."
Tezuka smiled and pressed another light kiss to Oishi's forehead before straightening and going to put on clothes. "We had a pretty simple lab today so it ended about an hour early."
Oishi slipped out of bed to get changed into the outfit he already had picked out. "Oh, I guess that explains it, then," he said softly. He got changed quietly, trying to come up with a way to salvage his plans now that he had screwed up.
Tezuka rested his hand on Oishi's shoulder. "Come on," he said softly. "It looked like there was a meal waiting to be prepared out in the kitchen."
Oishi smiled and leaned into Tezuka slightly. "There is. Want to make it with me?" he asked.
"I can't cook," Tezuka pointed out. Oishi nodded with a slight sigh. "I'll keep you company while you cook."
They walked into the kitchen and Oishi pushed up his sleeves before putting on his apron. "Can you put on some music, 'Mitsu?" he asked, smiling and getting to work on dinner. Oishi heard Tezuka rummaging through their music collection, CDs they'd mostly bought together and waited to hear what he would pick for their dinner prep work. Oishi knew full well that Tezuka couldn't cook, his brain wasn't wired for it or something. Tezuka was master of geology and Oishi liked cooking so it didn't really matter.
"Will this do?" Tezuka asked as he leaned up against a counter out of Oishi's way. Oishi started paying attention to the music and blushed.
"This is the CD we first made love to," Oishi muttered. The blush staining his cheeks couldn't have gotten much darker as he started making dinner, just a simple curry, but it was one of Tezuka's favorites. He felt Tezuka's arms wrap around his waist and smiled. "You're something else, Mitsu," he said softly.
Tezuka didn't say anything in return, just stood there with his arms wrapped securely around Oishi's waist while the latter made their dinner. "Smells delicious," he complimented as he finally pulled away several minutes later. Oishi blushed again, wondering not for the first time if that blush would become permanent with the way Tezuka pulled it out of him so easily.
"Well, you still have to wait a little longer before you can have any," Oishi chided. He laughed and kissed Tezuka lightly on the lips. "Set the table and change the CD. Every time I tune into it I start blushing from inappropriate thoughts."
"How are they inappropriate? We're in our own apartment having a romantic dinner," Tezuka pointed out.
Oishi shook his head. "I'd like to get through dinner at least before I start thinking about what comes afterwards." Oishi smiled to himself when he realized that Tezuka was already in the living room, not listening to him and he set the table as soon as the music had been changed. It was the little things that mattered.
Dinner was finished cooking so he took the pan over and loaded the plates with food before putting it back on the warming section of the stove. Tezuka was still standing next to the table, not sitting down like Oishi expected him to be.
"You don't have to wait for me," he said. He walked over and was about to sit down when Tezuka took his hand and pulled him close. Oishi laughed. "What are you up to?"
"Having fun." Oishi furrowed his brow in confusion, but soon was laughing and smiling when Tezuka started to move them around to the beat of the song. He wrapped his arms tightly around his love's neck and swayed with him in the middle of the kitchen like it was the most natural thing to do when dinner was sitting on the table waiting to be eaten.
