A Sense of the HYDE Concert:

Jul 04, 2006 00:46

This is different than what I posted on the community. Only the best for this tiny site!

The House of Blues is very small, so it's true that everyone has a good seat. There is an upstairs seating area with a railing to sit or stand by. You are sitting around the edges of a square, looking down at the stage. Then, the floor seating is a regular room with a level floor, below the stage. No special stage lighting or props were used, other than the HOB wash lighting. Kind of plain, but who doesn't love wash lighting? *We are GETTING a wash bank for the Halloween party, mark me words!
The band was wearing black, mostly. But, Hyde wore grey pinstriped pants & tunic- style top, similar to the style on the cover of the "Season's Call" single. He didn't look short, but appeared to be the same size as the guitarists. Couldn't see platforms from wher I was, but you KNOW there were platforms. haha.
Lucky for us, he played songs from all of his solo albums (including: Evergreen & Unexpected (rock versions), Hello, Hideaway, *Midnight Celebration(!), Sweet Vanilla) They were all played fast and heavy and with headbanging. It was similar to the 666 concert, in that way. (Do you even know what I'm TALKING about Shini? You BETTER listen to those CDs, or I'm coming over there. And, your wall of cats will NOT stop me!)
It was great to hear the music live, ofcourse, but the best part was the ENERGY in the room! I couldn't believe it. Hyde has an incredible stage presence and puts out so much energy and the audience was going bananas. It felt very unifying. The language and cultural differences between the people were gone and everyone was having so much fun and getting into the beats. It was very unique. I have never been to a concert with that feeling, before. (But I was also a bit disappointed that it was so Americanized, if you understand.)
Hyde spoke a lot of English between songs and his pronunciation was very good. It was his first time in California and he was honored to be performing here. He said he was having fun and asked us if we were and when we yelled "Yes." He replied "Nice!" and he sounded just like an American, saying that expression. hahaha. It was great. He also asked people to "go crazy with" him and everyone did. People were making a lot of noise for such a little venue. But, when he said good evening in Eng and Jpn, he seemed to think that nobody would understand the Jpn. Then, he asked if it was "ok" for him to sing a song in Japanese. Hopefully, from the cheers he realized that we love the Jpn songs. (WHY would you go to that concert if you didn't like songs in Jpn, anyways?)
I don't know how long the show lasted. There was a really short break that seemed too short for an intermission, so it threw me. But, he really did so a lot of songs.

When I got there at the beginning, all the barstools along the railing were open so I got FRONT ROW, CENTER, BABY! And I'm serious there was this female Dennis Rodman who sat next to me on the left. A yellow-blonde black woman. She was really nice, but... the hair!

YOU KNOW THAT I CAN'T GO TWO FEET WITHOUT SOMEBODY DROOLING, RIGHT? WELL THIS TIME (shakes head)...
On my other side was the "Neko-Lady." Cheery, and her ears were signed that day by Mana (!) but ooooh she was SCARIER than one of those damn six-foot tall violent GacktCats! She was all talking about the OLD concerts she went to like Janis Jopplin. She kept trying to talk to me and telling me I am "so cute" and she wanted me to hook up with her looser fanboy son!!! EEEEW!!! WHATEVER!!! I can't EVER escape it!
