Let's Go BU!

from butler.edu:

Two convincing wins last week over the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Youngstown State catapulted the Butler men’s basketball team to No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today poll and No. 14 in the Associated Press rankings for the week of Jan 22.

Last week, the Dawgs were ranked 15th in the ESPN/USA Today poll and 18th by the Associated Press. Find the polls at http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/polls.

On Jan. 17, Pete Campbell scored a season-high 17 points and Mike Green added 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists as the Bulldogs topped Youngstown State, 67-39. Three days later, A.J. Graves scored 28 points to lead Butler to an 80-59 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The Bulldogs have now been ranked in the Top 25 for the longest stretch in school history. Prior to this season, the last time they were ranked was for three weeks in 2001-02, when they reached as high as No. 20. The only other time Butler has been ranked was for eight weeks in 1948-49 - the first season there was a poll - when the team reached as high as No. 11.

This week, the Bulldogs play two away games, at 7 p.m. Thursday against Loyola and 4 p.m. Saturday at Detroit.

In other news, I think I should marry Drew Streicher.  We had Spanish together last semester, so we're off to a great start, and my family already loves him.  Tall + fabulous basketball player (slam dunk last Saturday, anyone?!? I was ecstatic) + pre-med + (seems like) a nice guy = winner.  Unfortunately, we do not have Spanish together this semester, so our engagement may be slightly delayed.

Ooooh, we could get married in Hinkle... how fun would that be? BUBB can play all the wedding music, and the cheerleaders can wave around big flags when I walk down the aisle.   I like it already.

Sorry, Ben Roethlisberger, but you are no longer my fantasy athlete husband.  No Superbowl, no love.  We're through.
