Work:
I’m finally starting to feel a bit more comfortable, less like I have to be perfect all the time and impress everyone or I’ll get fired. Which, I suppose, probably means I will get fired. But I hope not.
Yesterday I was supposed to run a meeting. I’d been underprepared for the last one, and was determined that this one would go smoothly. I made a checklist, used it, contacted everyone in advance for the information I needed, made sure I had the conference room well in advance, got myself trained in making conference calls…and the meeting was canceled. Figures.
One of the nice things about working in the fabric/garment district is all the clothing shops. Most of them are wholesale only, but I get a peek at what's fashionable (that's a whole other rant), and occasionally they have sample sales. Today I picked up a green tiered velvet skirt for $6. Okay, so it's cheap stretch velvet, but still!
Home:
It turns out digging out the car was easier than expected. We were able to wait for it to warm up a bit, and some of the snow was melted and what remained was nice and dense and easy to scoop out of the way. Somewhat trickier was re-parking after our drive.
darthsatyr and I don’t do Valentine’s day, but we had a nice drive down to the waterfront, where we got tea. And today all the chocolate goes half-price. Life is good.
Fandom:
Funny, I don’t remember signing up for the Samurai Strip Poker event this Lunacon…but apparently I’m on it. Apparently knowing how to play poker is not a requirement. Maybe I’ll wear my Kitsune costume-that way even if I do have to take off the Horrible Kimono of Doom, I’ve got a bodysuit and fur on under it.
I have a long weekend coming up, huzza! Monday I’ll be working with Kim on our Lunacon costumes (which reminds me,
puppetmaker40-did you ever talk to Kim about that snake? We are starting to creep up to the deadline.)
Andreas Katsulas, who played Tomalok on ST:TNG and G’kar on B5, has died of lung cancer. Others have spoken more eloquently about this (in particular puppetmaker40), so I’ll simply say that seldom in SF or elsewhere have I seen a performance with such eloquence and gravitas as Katsulas playing G’kar. I am saddened that he is gone.
