The following is one of the more amusing phone solicitor conversations I can recall:
Me: Hello?
Phone guy: Mrs. Whitesides?
Me: (considers saying, "Not yet.") No, I'm sorry.
PG: Is she available?
Me: I'm sorry, he's at work.
PG: Okay, I'll call back later.
Me: May I ask what this is in reference to?
PG: I'm with the United States Navy, calling about a fundraising drive....
Me: Well, I'm unemployed and he works at Starbucks. So I'm afraid we can't contribute anything.
PG: Oh...okay. Bye. *click*
Me: Hello?
