I am bracing for what will be a crazy weekend.
We are the keepers of Halloween for this hood. I've trolled ebay and listservs for a solid month picking up costumes. You should see the eyes of the kids light up when they hear you have free costumes they can borrow. You should see the parents look in relief that they no longer have to disappoint their kids or try to find new money to buy anything for them.
I've got ziplock bags of candy to hand out to the folks who, "just haven't been able to get to the store yet" or who "live right where the parade ends and might just need another bag..." from neighbors who are kind and realize that for some, buying $10 of candy is not an option this year or any other.
Yeah, we're having a parade. Why the hell not?
We cap off the costumes and parade and trick or treating with movies on our front lawn. We borrow a projector from work, hook up speakers and invite the whole hood to hang out.
Oh, and then there's the wedding on Saturday. Lord have mercy it's going to be a weekend. There might be a Halloween party I am missing right now...and I'm ok with that. The other two are asleep. I'm going to go catagorize the costumes and make lists in the hope that 75% of them return for next year.
I must admit to being slightly annoyed that recumbent cat is not recumbent.
