It's been weird the past couple of days. Mark has been doing his own thing and for the first time in a while I've had some time alone.
Today my mom came up to Buffalo and we went o Niagara-on-the-Lake. It was my first time wine-tasting and I really enjoyed it. Honestly, I don't think I have a very sophisticated palate. C'est la vie.. I can't be good at everything. Heh heh. Okay that's not very funny. Wine tasting is a very white person thing to do, apparently. I guess only yuppie white people would be stupid enough to buy a $50 corkscrew. The third place we went to,
Peller Estates, was especially yuppie. It was this ridiculously ostentatious mansion and they had all these displays of patio dishes, corkscrews, decanters and other really unnecessary things that people just have to have. The other vineyards,
Inniskillin and
Reif Estate Winery, and were just more focused on the wine. I tried ice wine at Inniskillin and found it surprisingly tasty in spite of its extreme sweetness. The bar guy tried to explain it, but I don't really understand why the grapes have to be frozen from picking to pressing. Whatever, I buy it. In fact, I did buy it literally for Mark. A VERY small sample since it's incredibly expensive. I bought this fruity wine with a peppery aftertaste called Gamay Noir. We tried having dinner in the village part of Niagara-on-the-Lake. We went to this nice restaurant, got seated in a really empty, stuffy part of the restaurant, asked to move to a better table, ordered food, realized the food looked crappy and overpriced, canceled our order, ran away, and decided to head back to Buffalo to eat dinner. Buffalo does have to best food of anywhere ever. We went to Romeo and Juliet's and had a really big and delicious meal. I was sad to see my mom go home. She's a fun gal. My favorite mom quote for today is from when we were talking about iPods:
Elise: I really like to keep my iPod on shuffle. (or something like that)
Mom: I don't think my iPod does that.
Michelle: Mom, isn't that what your iPod is called? An iPod shuffle?
Anywho, since I've been back I've been wasting away here online. I forgot how fun it is to instant message. Unfortunately I only have about 3 people to talk to. I guess I have to work on that.
Check out this commercial that my Godfather's in! He appears right after they show the trumpet and the Hot Shot Progressive gambling machine. He tries to get voice-over and acting gigs as a hobby. I'm so proud :o).
I just made my first "that's what she said" joke to Anthony. Obviously I catch onto things really slowly.
