Life, or something like it....

Well I've got a lot of shit to cover, so here we go.
Last week was probably the shitiest week of my life. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong, wether it comes from home, on the job, everything. This week doesn't look like it's going much better this week, but by the end of this week, things either go really sour, or get much better, so the anticipation for this weekend is quite bittersweet. It got so bad at my job last week, I was seriously debating just quitting and going back to school full-time. The scary thing is, I know that on this job, it can get much worse. It's the price you pay I guess.

Speaking about school, I do really need to go back and do some schooling at least. I'll never get that phd if I just sit around and do nothing. I heard my old Japanese teacher is pushing to get a new class going, maybe this is a good sign for me to get back in and master that language before I forget all of it.

I've been playing catch up with various anime's and movies lately. I just finished Chrono Crusade this morning. If you had asked me about the show yesterday, I would have said I hated it and it was just not my style. The characters were really shallow, and most of the show was just too slow. Amazingly in just the last 10 minutes of the last episode, changed my opinion of the show. I still don't like it much, but I don't consider it a waste of my time now.

I watched the Fullmetal Alchemist movie last week. Man I'm pissed. That whole movie was actually pretty good, up until the very ending. One scene can really change my opinion of any show/movie pretty fast if it's really well done. FMA just died with the ending. It's a semi-happy ending which I think is bullshit. It's not like I don't like happy endings, I just think they need to add something to the series. I thought that either they should end the movie with either a really happy ending, or a really sad ending. Having a bittersweet ending that FMA had basically takes you for a loop. It's like the movie showed an hour an a half of events, but by the time it ended, it's pretty much where it started. Hey Ed, you ever hear of these nifty things called explosives? They're pretty good at blowing stuff up, you know like gates. I usually love tragic hero stories, but only if the tragedy is unavoidable. It shows just how strong a character is in the face of adversity. If you can avoid an issue by using your brain, that doesn't make you a maytr, it makes you stupid.

The Promise must be the most confusing movie I've ever watched. I did not like that movie.

Now for something I watched that was actually really good. Korean movies to me were overhyped usually. Like everyone was telling me that Shiri was the shit. The plot twist was completly predictable, and the movie itself was actually pretty boring. Musa the Warrior was pretty good, but it's essentially a Chinese movie with Korean characters (hell Ziyi Zhang was even in it). But Old Boy.... Holy shit. Everything about this movie was great. I mean, you spend half the movie wondering what the hell the main character did to deserve this, but by the time you realize the truth.... just amazing. In a nut shell, without spoiling anything, Old Boy is about a man who is captured and imprisoned for 15 years, then released. He doesn't know why or who imprisoned him. So basically he spends the bulk of the movie finding out why and who decided to make his life hell, and get revenge. Story, acting, music, characters, even the cinematography was extremely well done. Great movie, I'd reccomend it to anyone. A word of warning though, this movie is really, really violent, and very disturbing in many ways. The violence isn't excessive, it's completely necessary even. The movie has some fucked up things that happen in it, so don't tell me I didn't warn you. It is out on american DVDs, I got mine off of Netflix.

I could probably go on, but I don't really feel like it, and I really need to get some sleep anyways. I haven't partied or drank an excessive amount of alcohol lately, and I think I really need to. My drinking buddy needs to stop being a whipped bastard and come out for a drink. Anyone want to take his place?
