Is it odd that I'm kind of excited that I was approved for food stamps?
Well, technically the Bridge Card, through the unfortunately acronymed Food Assistance Program (FAP).
I'm not entirely sure how much I receive per month, but it will definitely help out when it's that time of the month (BILL PAYING TIME, GOSH). Having to pay back that bitch Sallie Mae kind of sucks, and especially when you add in car insurance and paying my parents back for my laptop and car repairs.
Speaking of which, Edna is repaired (I hope). My family's Car Guy replaced the head gasket and all, and said that the problem with my front wheel was the chunks of ice and snow stuck up in there from going into a foot of snow in the median and then getting dragged through it. Since I don't park it anywhere that's considered "indoors" or "warm" it never got a chance to melt. I'm not quite sure I believe that explanation since my mom said that the ABS light is still on, but we'll see what happens when I pick it up tomorrow.
ALSO. I've been thinking of getting one of those HD antenna/receiver things for my computer. However, I don't know if you need to have some sort of HD service already, or if you can just pick up the signal and watch shows on your computer. If it's the latter, I am so getting one (probably the next time they're on Woot) and cancelling my cable (and getting faster internet). Anyone know anything about these things?
ALSO ALSO. I called down to NC and talked with the program director there (who sympathized with the snow, he used to live in Wisconsin).
Bad News: The VISTA Leader position (the one I wanted to apply for...it's like of like the middle management between the individual VISTAs and the Program Director) was absorbed into the PD position...so there isn't one.
Slightly Good News: They have two in-house VISTA positions, and one of them will for sure be open next year. Also, he told me to fix up my application to reflect this year's service and he'd try to get me a formal interview ASAP (even though recruiting doesn't really start until next month).
