Hello
My DSL has been cracked out, on and off for a looooooooong time, which is why I have not posted in so long. It shows no signs of being less cracked out anytime soon. I am either going to continue dealing with its spotty existence or switch to a different service. A few notable things have happened since I last posted. In no particular order:
I saw Sondre Lerche perform at the Housing Works bookstore/cafe and he was awesome...just him and a guitar, no band. He was also really funny. I like the way he says polar bears. He played a lot of my favorite old songs, ie Sleep on Needles, and he played the entire new album, "Duper Sessions" which was cool. I also was waiting to use the restroom before his set, when lo and behold, who comes out of the bathroom I am waiting for, but him. Lol. I was in a daze and didn't really pick up on it right away because he looks kind of different than he did when I saw him a couple of years ago. Oh! also I had dinner with Jay right before the show. It was good to see him, but I did not enjoy it that much because I kind of had to rush out.
That weekend I was dogsitting Louis Anthony spontaneously came into the city Saturday, late afternoon. It was fab! I had already done some shopping and saw Mario, Queen of the Circus perform in Washington Square Park. I made us makshift cocktails using a small bottle of vodka and 2 snapple pink lemonades which I obtainted mere minutes before I met Anthony by the ACE. Afterwards we freshened up and went to dinner at this French place near my job. We shared a cheese platter and a salad. We then met my brother and sister in-law at the Tarantula show at Tonic. The band was good and it was good to hang out all together. Afterwards Anthony and I went to the Annex to see 33Hz and the Glass, both of whom were also good, but that bar was sooooooooo fucking hot, and we realized that our dinner was not a good base for a night of heavy drinking. So we left right before the Glass finished and got some delicious take-out and ate it while watching Ab Fab in my boss' apartment. The next day we had excellent brunch and went record shopping and then had excellent brunch again, closer to lunch/dinner time, then went home.
Then a couple of weeks ago I saw the awesomely talented Damon McMahon perform at Tonic. I usually am not a big, "Dude you HAVE to check out this band!!!" person, but I really think he is good and worth checking out. He does kind of folksy/rock acoustic guitar and vocals.
http://www.myspace.com/damonmcmahon. Simon was kind enough to join me blindly in yet another musical adventure. I think he made out ok. Dare I say he had a good time. He also was kind enough to let me crash at his dorm which was extremely nice of him. He was a great host and even made me dinner and a post concert snack.
Last week I took Friday off, and Thursday night Anthony and I went to dinner at this place called Freeman's which was fucking trendy nightmare central, but he really wanted to eat there and it was his bday. We waited forEVER!!!! Almost 2 hours!! It was severely whack. They did give us a free appetizer, but whatever!!! I will never go back there even though the food was pretty awesome. I also got a WICKED stomach ache from waiting so long to eat and drinking 2 glasses of champagne in the hotel (we got a room for the night) and 2 champagne cocktails at the bar. We were going to see Sondre Lerche at the Bowert Ballroom afterward and I was really paranoid that we would be late, but my stomach hurt so badly that I made us walk out of our way to a deli so I could get tums. When we got there I had a loud, "I am clearly drunk" dialogue with Anthony that was essentially me yelling that I was going to get Pepto Bismol instead. Luckily the clerk was a young guy that found this very amusing. A few songs into Sondre Lerche I was able to stop crouching down and my stomach pain subsided. We were on the right side of the stage, towards the front which was good. Sondre was amazing once again. This time he had a band. They played a lot of Duper Sessions songs, a lot of old songs, and the entire new album that they are planning on recording straight through. This overall was awesome, though it almost killed Anthony. He did not expect such an intense concert experience. The new Sondre album sounds like it will be awesome. It has much more of a rock feel than his usual stuff. He played a lot of old songs during the encore which rocked. Sleep on Needles, again. I love that song. Here is everything he played solely for my reference, sorry for any inconvenience or annoyance this may cause you:

The next day Anthony and I ran ourselves ragged shopping and such before taking the bus back to his house, where I stayed for the whole weekend and had some serious fun, ie watching "Best in Show" and drinking and relaxing, culminating in a birthday bbq on Sunday with his whole fam and my parents even came up for it.
So, that is as all encompassing as it gets. I am dogsitting from Monday-Friday this week and Anthony is staying over most of the time which should yield more serious fun. I am looking forward to it.
ps- I think the novelty of my job is wearing off and I am getting kind of antsy about what I want to do with my life
pps- I totally forgot to mention that Anthony is going to CUNY Law and we are going to live together, probably in Brooklyn. We are just waiting for all his loans and stuff to get straightened out and then we will go apartment hunting. My goal is to be moved out before my parents move to the condo in July, so I will not have to move twice, because that is just silly!
Also, one day since I last posted I had the most glorious lunch with my friend Jay (who also happens to be my ex-boyfriend). I thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. It helps that I wasn't rushing off to a concert, just back to work, lol.
