(2010-03-25) Living Rosary

Mar 29, 2010 13:29

After an unintentional 3 month hiatus (and one quarter of studying Spanish at Columbus State), I made it back down to St. Stephen the Martyr to see what the sisters have been up to.

Thursday, March 25th was the Feast of the Annunciation, nine months before Christmas when the angels appeared to Mary to tell her that she would be giving birth to Christ. The sisters organized a living rosary at the Church. The rosary is a Marian devotion, and so is particularly appropriate for the Annunciation. As such, a short dramatic recreation of the event was presented during the rosary by girls from the youth group that the sisters lead. For each prayer of the rosary, a member of the congregation took a candle and lined up around the church. As the final prayer was said, the lights were turned off entirely, leaving only the candlelight.
