valuables:
our two maids are leaving tonight. my father says we are to hide all our valuables in case they take anything, & also it's because they got reprimanded on sunday. sunday is their only day off, & they ask permission to go to mass. my father thinks they should go one at a time, & be home an hour later; i don't know exactly what religion they're part of, but i understand that it holds an all-day service.
well, they haven't been fired. they resigned. i guess they didn't like the way my dad spoke to them.
a couple of weeks ago one of them approached me asking for money to buy rice. my dad didn't leave enough for groceries & we were short for lunch & dinner for the next couple of days, so i gave them half my allowance. i found the change on my dresser later that day, along with this note

Bilin kasi ni Mama mo kung ano daw ang kailangan dito at alanganin na sa iyo daw maglapit. Huwag daw kaming mahiya magsabi sa iyo.

i guess i'll go down & talk to them now. i don't have to convince them to stay if they don't want to, but i owe them this. as for my valuables, they stay right where they are.
