Why Chinese Mothers are Superior
I agree completely with the author. Westerners suck at parenting because for whatever reason they think it's OK for kids to get bad grades when good grades mostly take effort. Having a good attitude helps too.
It wasn't until freshman year of college that I realized it's just all about effort. In high school, I took Saturday math classes and did math competitions. I was started in the lowest class for high schoolers and was average at first, but I put in enough work to be one of the bottom tier students in the top class. That got me top 100 in the state. The hardest-working student in my class was number one. He totally deserved it and I deserved what I got. The most useful thing I got out of the whole three years or so of training is success is a result of effort, attitude, and a good teacher. Talent comes last. Westerners miss that.
