Dude. I'm freakin out. Supernatural starts in a couple of hours, and I'm really worried about how it's going to end. For a while I've been wondering if this was the last season even though the original plan included five seasons. Besides, how could you top the Acopocalypse and the rising of Lucifer. Plus, we've been heading towards Dean vs. Sam. That's gotta be the series finale. Then I found out there would be another season and was still wondering how they could top this.
Now I'm thinking that killing Lilith breaks the final seal. The explanation being that maybe only Sam can kill her. However, the only way Sam can be strong enough to kill her is to ingest an enormous amount of demon blood - so much that it permanently alters him. So Sam becomes the demon. An incredibly powerful. A completely corrupted righteous man. A hunter who voluntarily gives up his soul to become evil. That also makes sense since we/Dean have been warned almost since season 1 that Sam may have to be stopped or killed. It would also make a nice bookkend having Dean, a fallen righteous man, break the first seal and his brother Sam, a fallen righteous man, break the final seal. Plus, they've said that Dean is the one that can stop the apocalypse, and he's truly the only one who has any chance of stopping his brother because he knows him better than anyone. And from the beginning, we've had people telling Dean to watch out for Sam in one way or another. So, now I'm worried about the finale and next season.
Because instead of them defeating this and using next season to work towards brotherhood and family and Sam coming back to himself again... I think Sam will be the big bad for next season. I think that they (Dean) will prevent the apocalypse but lose Sam as a white hat. So next season would have Dean hunting his brother, and the season arc would lead up to the final Sam vs. Dean battle. This sucks for a lot of reasons. This season has been great but also hard to watch because one of the things I loved the most about this show is the relationship between the brothers. This season, almost every episode has me feeling like a huge weight was dropped on me - there's no hope, just depression and angst. And now, instead of enjoying a rebuilding, a coming back together, we may have to watch them on opposite sides, trying to kill each other. That would break my heart. And poor Dean. Plus, I feel like it might be hard to make that work or to shoot it, as they only have two regular cast members. Sure, they can easily use recurring and guest. They can easily pop in on Dean's life and then pop on over into Sam's. And of course, periodically, the two worlds will meet, and the brothers will battle and come away without winning the war. But that seems like an unrealistic and unappealing way to take the show. So I'm freaking out about the season finale. I just want to see them the way they were from especially mid-season 2 on. It's all so tragic now.
Although I do love the addtitions of Cas (yay!), Anna, and Chuck. But for the love of God, someone please kill Ruby. I actually adored Ruby when she was played by Katie Cassidy. This new chick is almost unbearable to watch. Katie was able to pull of a snarky attitude without being unlikable. New chick just comes off as a bitch. A stereotypical I'm-so-bored-with-life and so-much-better-than-you valley girl bitch. She is awful. Pure and simple. Please die.
