Off the RP record: an IC rant about the DH movie

Nov 19, 2010 16:55

ooc: Went to the Deathly Hallows movie today and having Gellert in my head, this is what happened: He went from amused to incredulous to miffed to angry to pouting and ended up just fuming so he had to rant...

Spoilers may be below. It's off the official RP record but feel free to poke him or calm him down or something.

I am no traitor )

*shrugs* People are stupid, that's all. You know how many dumb things are written about Dad? But anyone who actually thinks for two seconds knows what's right, and I bet it's the same for you, you just gotta ignore the idiots. Who cares what they think anyway?

Hi! You said anyone could pop in, and Al felt like sticking his nose into someone else's business :)

At first I wasn't so concerned - and you're right, I do not generally care what people think of me - but the more I thought about it...

As long as the right people know the truth, I suppose I should not be so bothered. But it is is irritating to have one's character sullied so often and to have the truth so twisted.

[Yay! Good to see him. ^_^]

I know what you mean. First Potter in generations and son of the Gryffindor "Saviour" to be in Slytherin? The papers went mental when they found out. Thought I was gonna turn evil overnight or something. They still write about it.

Not saying it's as bad as having people think you helped Voldemort, but I can understand a bit. *shrug*

Slytherin does not equal evil as much as Gryffindor does not equal good. You are an individual, not a House. These old traditions should be looked into and updated. It is as bad as the Ministry's backward way of thinking and it's old fashioned Statute of Secrecy. See what trying to change that got me...

I had accepted that history books would manipulate their words to make me look bad but this was something else. I am mortally offended. It is the opposite of what I would have done and did do.

*especially when his favourite hobby is to taunt Tom Riddle whenever he runs into one in a RP*

Your namesake would have been even more disappointed in me if this had actually happened. At least he and your father know the truth.

I know, I don't care what people think, and I like it in Slytherin, James still can't get into the common room. *grins*

Anyway, I'm sorry 'bout the lies. If I ever write a book, I'll tell them all the truth, and your bit of truth too, but I'm not much of a writer, so it might take a while. I'm going to call it "Things you all got wrong and were too stupid to realise", sound good?

*laughs* I like you. You should write that book.

*laughs delightedly* I don't think it'd sell very well though, with a title like that. Everyone'd think they were too clever for it.

Ahh... but people also like to prove themselves right - so they may buy it just to argue your points. That title could provoke reactions.

Hm, good point. I'd like to see it reviewed in the 'Prophet though, *he puts on a silly pompous voice*, Albus Potter claims we're all idiots, tosh! No stars!

I wonder what the Quibbler would say.

Depends on who writes it, they'll either say that it's what they've been trying to tell people for years, or that it was a largely useless guide to Hinkypunks, which it will be.

The point is you should never fully believe everything you read or see. You should always have some questions.

At least that's what I think.
