The end of 2007: The year that I transformed from an old adolescent boy, to a young man

"The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous." -Carrie

That quote pretty much sums up how this year was for me: Although it took a long time, I think I am finally becoming the person that I have wanted to be and love. Gone is the pretentious Glenn who would talk about "intellectual" stuff only to make himself look good. Gone is the over-emotional Glenn who would cry and pout over people who betrayed or hurt him, without even knowing why he was crying. And Gone is the obnoxious, ignorant ASSHOLE who did cruel and malicious acts. The new, improved Glenn that now exists is much more wiser and educated than ever, and now talks about subjects that truly interests him (such as kitties and sesame street), uses reason and knowledge to analyze himself and his situations in order to understand them more and come to a more efficient solution, and, although may ridicule and laugh at ignorance, will never again try to provoke others via bullying and gossiping. Also gone is the Glenn who wore clothes that were too big for him; that shit was just unfabulous.

So, for some of my highlights of 2007: Doing well in my first full time semester of college (I got on the Dean's list in the spring!), going to my first club (Escuelita), finally having a productive and busy summer (compared to my previous summers, where I just stayed at home and watched TV. This summer, I had classes and work almost everyday), finally having my bday plans come through (compared to my last two bdays: in 2005, My mother was supposed to take me to an amusement park, but didn't, and last year, I was supposed to spend the day with Adrian, but he was chosen to go to Bball camp. This year, all I wanted was to go shopping with my friends-and I did :D), My child psychology and development class (my prof was just so awesome!), Doing extremely well in the fall semester, and gaining a somewhat better fashion sense.

2007 was also a year that I got hooked onto so many shows: Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Sex and the City, Will & Grace (I watched it a little before, but now I became more devoted), and most recently, Absolutely Fabulous.

Music-wise, I think I started to embrace hip-hop more, most likely because of Bloomingdale's and Escuelita: Bloomingdale's because the only stations that helped keep me energetic were the hip-hop ones, and Escuelita because they mostly play hip-hop music on thursdays. Besides, for my personal taste, hip-hop is more suitable for dancing than other genres because it allows people who can't even dance to get away with just doing some stupid move lol.

And speaking of Bloomingdale's, I must thank that store so much for broadening my mind in terms of fashion and people. Omigoodygod that store had fabulous clothes! I must admit, some of their merchandise was whack, but then when I went to venture over to the burberry collections, the armani collezioni collections, and def the Jean Paul Gautier and Marc Jacobs collections, I was like, "Damn, that's fabulous!" I would even tale some of the catalogs home just to look at the pretty clothes :) (Note to self-buy overpriced shiny metallic jeans from bloomindales before they stop selling them).

My Bloomingdale co-workers were just as fabulous as the clothes. I mean yeah, most of them did make a big mistake in working at that store most of their lives in such bad positions (sales), but nonetheless they were all very intelligent, fun, and very nice. They eventually helped make me feel less sad and lonely during those weeknights that I had to work in that dusty shoe stockroom. I plan on visiting them sometime in the near future.

The very last moments of 07 put into motion some welcomed changes into my life; namely, my ability to finally make my curly hair work, and my new job at Rite Aid (well the Rite aid job may not be too welcomed, but hey it's closer to my house lol). I plan to see how those work out in the future.

I must say that this has been one of the better years for me since 2004; my life may not have changed drastically in terms of relationships, but most of the kinks and bumps have been smoothed out. Now that many so needed repairs have been made, let's see what new and exciting adventures await me next year-2008, the year I officially ditch the 'teens.
