Distracted, self-centered mothers

No one understands them quite like Blair Waldorf, and she's kind enough to help friends with similar problems.

She listens and advises if they need it.

She intends to be there for moral support.

When they try to stand up to their mothers, or even just try to talk to them. They end up yelled at or ignored.

Blair sees now she needs to intervene, to save them from a worse fate. Her efforts to at first, are ignored.

Then there is a shift in her stance and the atmosphere, she reveals to them the deeper issues and consequences. It seems they heard her after she retreats.

Did you choose Serena over me? You could have picked a stranger, you didn't have to choose my best friend. (1.04)

Serena has a secret, and she's been holding onto it for a long, long time and now its finally catching up with her. I'm out my league here, I can't do anymore than I've done and its not enough. She needs you. (1.17)

Just, your daughter's a great girl. You should pay more attention to her. Soon it'll be too late. (2.09)

Chuck spent his entire life believing he killed his mother. If you know anything that could take away even a second of that pain, it would be cruel not to share it. (3.13)

GG : ...in every girl's life there comes a moment when she realises her mother might be more messed up than she is.

Which then follows their mothers to actually act like mothers and talk to their child about why they fought. (Except Emma's mother). They reconcile and spend time together, at least for a time.
