Disclaimer: I don’t own anything regarding Gilmore Girls. Not even Milo Ventimiglia. Although, how fun would it be to own him ;)

I just saw Milo’s show the Bedford Diaries online, and Oi! Go watch that show. I went to go see Stay Alive on Friday, and it was just way too good. Milo makes such an adorable computer nerd. :-D

A/N: Thank you to all my reviews. Just keep them coming because that is what inspires me to update faster. I’m fast-forwarding a little bit now to “Teach Me Tonight.”

“Luke’s Diner.” Luke said gruffly as he answered the phone that kept ringing incessantly.

“Hello is Mr. Luke Danes there?” asked the voice on the other line.

“This is he.” He said trying to overhear from all the commotion that was going on in the diner.

“This is Principal Merton calling from Stars Hollow High regarding your nephew Jess Mariano.” He said in a professional manner.

“What did he do now?” asked Luke, growing impatient by what his nephew did do this time.

“I called to inform you that Jess has been missing classes and he is not going to be passing this year if he continues this way.” He said over the phone.

“Oh. Okay.” Luke said shocked. “What do you suggest I do?” he asked needing help.

“I suggest you get him a tutor. He needs to bring up those grades if he doesn’t want to repeat his junior year. The semester is almost over, so I suggest whatever you do, it is very effective, or else Jess will be here as a junior again next year.” The principal said.

“Thank you for letting me know. I’ll figure something out soon. He is definitely not repeating this year over again.” Luke said sternly.

As both Luke and Principal Merton turned off the phone, one was satisfied something was finally going to be done, while the other was fuming.

“Caesar, I have to go upstairs for a second.” Luke yelled as he made his way the stairs two at a time.

“Jess.” Luke yelled as he walked in expecting to see Jess, instead he saw two young teenagers whose hormones were obviously out of control because they were all over the couch oblivious to anyone else in the world.

Rory and Jess were on the couch Rory was under Jess, and Rory’s hair was disheveled and both the teens were panting. It was obvious as to what they were doing prior to Luke’s entrance.

“Uh. Hey Luke.” Rory said trying to straighten herself up while gently pushing Jess off of her.

Jess just looked at both of them and saw the embarrassment rising in both their cheeks and couldn’t help but chuckle. This was just too funny. Both pair’s of eyes turned to him. Rory gently hit him on the chest while Luke glared at him and remembered why he was up here in the first place.

Rory, sensing Luke’s anger decided to go home. “I’ll see you guys tonight for dinner. Bye.” She said as she grabbed her coat, kissed Jess on the cheek and walked out.

After Rory left the apartment, Luke approached Jess.

“So, I just got off the phone with your principal.” Luke said nonchalantly.

“Have a nice talk about the good ol’ days at Stars Hollow High?” he asked sarcastically.

“Jess. Stop. He told me that you’re failing some of your classes and if you don’t bring up your grades, you’ll have to repeat your junior year.” He said, anger rising.

“Well, at least I’ll know where my classes are.” Jess added becoming aggravated with this topic.

“Look Jess. You’re mom did not send you here for you to fail high school. I am getting you a tutor and you are going to bring up those grades even if it means that you are going to summer school.” Luke yelled. He didn’t even wait for Jess to reply and stormed out of the apartment slamming the door.

Rory had just barely gotten home from the diner and was still in her uniform, when there was a knock on her door.

She went to open the door and was surprised at who was standing there.

“Uh..Hi Luke.” She said awkwardly.

“Uh. Hey Rory. Can I come in?” he asked pointing to her room.

“Sure,” she said as she let him in and stared at a just as confused Lorelai.

“So, um…what can I do for you?” she asked moving around her room not knowing whether to sit or stand.

“Well,” Luke started, “Rory, please sit down, you’re making me nervous.” Rory sat down at her desk chair and looked at Luke concerned.

“Is everything okay Luke?” she asked worried.

“Huh? Yea. Everything’s fine.” He said. “Well, everything’s fine with me, that spawn of Satan of a nephew I have, that’s a different story.” Luke said getting angry just thinking about Jess.

“Luke what happened to Jess?” Rory asked starting to get frantic.

“Nothing. He’s just. God I can’t believe he would do this.” Luke trailed off.

“Luke. What did Jess do?” Rory was freaking out. She didn’t know what to expect.

“He’s failing his classes and he might not pass junior year.” Luke said shamefully.

“What?” Rory asked shocked. “That doesn’t make any sense, he’s smart enough to pass any subject.”

“It’s more of a participating and actually doing work problem. I don’t doubt that he doesn’t know his stuff.” Luke said.

“Ah.” Rory understood perfectly well.

“Yeah.” Luke nodded. “And I was wondering if you could tutor Jess, for a little while to help him bring up his grades.”

“Sure. Yeah. Definitely. He is not going to fail this year or any other year.” She said confidently.

“Great. Can you start from tonight? Just a couple of days just so he gets back on track.” Luke requested.

“Yeah. I’ll see you tonight.” Rory agreed.

“Great. Bye.” Luke said as he got up and started to head across her room, “and thanks for doing this.”

“No problem Luke, really.” She insisted as he left and she went to change out of her uniform.

When she changed out of her uniform and grabbed the phone to call Jess.

“Hello?” he asked in a hoarse voice.

“Hey Jess, we need to talk. Meet me at the bridge in 30 minutes.” She said quickly then hung up on him.

On the other side of the line, Jess just stared at the phone confused, then looked at his watch and went to go get ready to meet Rory.

When he got there, he saw Rory sitting on the side of the bridge her feet dangling and she was in full concentration while she was reading.

“Hey.” He said as he came up next to her.

She looked up at him and then got up from the bridge. “Hi.” She said coolly.

“What’s the matter?” he asked immediately sensing something was wrong.

“Were you ever planning on telling me?” she asked anger rising in her voice.

“Tell you what?” he asked confused.

“You should have told me Jess. If we’re going to do this relationship thing then we both need to talk to make this work. I want this to work. I don’t get why you won’t talk to me.” She was hurt and angry and she didn’t know how to deal with it. She didn’t have this problem with Dean, but she needed to stop comparing Dean and Jess. They were two different people. And she chose Jess because he was what she wanted.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Jess asked getting angry himself.

“I’m talking about you not passing junior year. That’s what I’m talking about Jess.” She said loudly.

“Oh. Luke told you didn’t he?” he asked fuming.

“Yes Jess, Luke told me.” She said calming down. She sat back down on the bridge and spoke softly. “ I don’t know what’s wrong with us. Why can’t we communicate?”

“Look, the reason I didn’t tell you is because it just happened, and I didn’t have time to come over and let you know. Right after you left, Luke told me the principal called, and the next thing I know is that Luke’s gone, and I’m getting a call from you. So when was I supposed to tell you?” he asked as he sat down next to her.

“Would you have told me if Luke hadn’t come over?” she asked timidly.

“Look Rory, I’m not good with the whole communication thing, but if it’s something that affects the both of us, like me not passing junior year, then yes, I would have told you.” He said sincerely.

She turned to him with a small smile on her face. “Just tell me these things before so I don’t hear them from somewhere else and freak out.” She asked.

“Deal.” He said as he got up and helped Rory up also.

They had started walking away from the bridge towards the Gilmore house with Jess’ arm around Rory’s waist. There was a comfortable silence, which was broken when Rory spoke.

“Now, I have something to share with you.” She said quietly.

“Yea?” Jess asked questioningly. “What is it?”

“You have to promise not to get mad.” She said.

“Fine. I promise.” Jess said feeling childish.

“Luke asked me to tutor you, and I agreed.” She said and cringed.

“Huh.”

“What?” she asked confused.

“I guess we’re the ones who have the student-teacher relationship then.” He said with a smirk.

“Ugh. Don’t be gross.” She said as she lightly hit him on his chest.

He just smiled and walked her back to her house.

“I’m not really sure about this Rory,” Lorelai said worried.

“What aren’t you sure about mom? I’m just going to tutor him. He is my boyfriend. I don’t want him to repeat 11th grade.” Rory argued.

“I know. And I understand that. I’m just not comfortable with you two being alone.” She admitted.

“But we aren’t going to be alone. There will be a diner full of people and Luke’s going to be there the whole time.” Rory said while getting ready in her room.

“Fine. But if you feel uncomfortable at all, let me know. Okay?”

“Yes mom.” Rory said with a smile.

“Thank you.” She said satisfied.

“Now can we go? I’m starving and I have a long night ahead of us.” Rory said as she grabbed her coat and started heading for the door.

“Right behind you sweets.” Lorelai said as she walked out of the kitchen and out the door with Rory.

XXXXXXXXX

“Was it just me, or did the burger’s actually taste better today?” asked Lorelai.

“No, I think it was just you. They tasted the same to me.” Rory said.

Jess had just walked down the stairs and past the curtains when he spotted Rory and Lorelai chatting. He grabbed the coffee pot and walked over to them.

“Hey,” he said as he bent down to give Rory a kiss.

Rory obliged and kissed him back. “Hey.” She said when they broke apart.

“Ugh. You guys disgust me.” Lorelai said breaking their little trance. “Go be mushy and gushy. I’m leaving.” She said as she grabbed her things and got up.

“See you later mom.” Rory said to Lorelai.

“Bye.” She said kissing her forehead.

“You,” she said looking at Jess. “Be good.”

“Scout’s honor.” He said sarcastically.

Lorelai just frowned and walked out the door.
“So, ready to study,” Rory asked as Jess came and sat at her table.

“Umm. How about “no”.” Jess said pretending to think.

“Jess,” Rory whined. “I came here to tutor you and that’s what we’re going to do.”

“Okay, okay.” Jess surrendered.

“Go get your books then, I’ll wait down here.” Rory ordered.

“Yes ma’am.” Jess said as he got up and went upstairs.

XXXXXXXXXX

“How can you even begin to compare The Fountainhead with a classic like The Sun Also Rises?” asked a confused Jess.

“We will not go over this again, Jess.” Rory said getting restless.

“Go over what? That Ayn Rand is insane and Ernest Hemmingway isn’t?” he asked smirking.

“Can we get back to me tutoring you now?” asked Rory putting her head on the table.

“Only if you admit that I’m right, and you’re wrong.” Jess said smirking.

“Never.”

“Fine. I guess I don’t learn anymore then. So what do you want to do now?” he asked.

“I feel like ice cream.” She admitted raising her head from the table.

“Let’s get some then.” He urged as he got up and went to the freezer in the back.

“Don’t forget the cones,” Rory said as she fixed up the table that had scattered books and papers.

“We have a slight problem,” Jess said coming out from the back.

“What?”

“We don’t have any cones.” He admitted.

“What? How can you not have any cones?” she asked confused.

“You know Luke.” Jess said knowingly.
“I can’t eat ice cream without cones though.” She said on the verge of whining.

“How about we take a break from studying and go out and eat ice cream.” Jess suggested.

“How can we take a break from studying when you haven’t even studied. You’ve done everything else but study.” She asked curious.

“Fine, how about we go get ice cream right now, then when we come back, I’ll study, I swear.” He said as he got his jacket.

“Okay. But let’s walk.” Rory said.

“As you wish.” Jess said as they both exited the diner and made their way through town.
