Wow, we had something for a thunderstorm today.
It rained at least half the afternoon with lighting and thunder in the sky. :) Good thing I didn't have to go shopping today.
It was quite spetacular; lighting in the sky flashing now and then in through my windows, and two-three seconds later thunderclaps. Really loud thunderclaps. One sounded like a bomb had been dropped on the nearby grain factory's roof. Most sounded like huge supersonic booms though.
And the rain was an absolute downpour at times, so much it light outside dropped considerably.
If you had any doubt I find the elements to be fascinating. (Well, ever since I stopped being afraid of the lighting). I love watching things as thunderstorms with lighting in the sky or hitting the water.
Seeing tornadoes, which is a rather safe thing to do in DK, since we very seldom get any thing big in that area, are just as amazing. The only larger ones stay at sea. Otherwise it's mostly whirlwinds or minor tornadoes that never touch ground.
Of course the worst nature can throw at us here, is usually the storms that can come in the autumn and early winter and the occasional snowblizzard. They come like every seven year, so snowblizzards isn't what we get most.
And of course the thunderstorms that prevail in the summer period. This one was quite long and fierce, but stopped very quickly around... seven, I think. It was a little before I left home for training, and thank God for that. A bit early for a thunderstorm, I think, but it was impressive. :)
And now my inner mad scientist have spoken, I will put her back where she usually resides. ;) (Before she starts on vulcanoes...)
