(I did it again! I watched the movie, then I got distracted talking to a girl, and never posted about it. I had a date with said girl today, so it was probably for the best. Anyway, I will post the review of Naschy's Horror Rises From the Tomb right after this I promise)
Ahem... yes.
Yesterday's movie was the Norwegian horror flick Dead Snow. I watched it dubbed, instead of with subtitles a la Choking Hazard. A group of medical students on Easter break decide to take a ski vacation at their friend Sara's cabin in the mountains. When they get there, Sara is mysteriously absent. Not finding this overly concerning, the friends start partying without her. A hiker happens by, and tells them all of the dark past of the area. Apparently, during World War II, a Nazi regiment terrorized the region, stealing and murdering for years. Then in the end of the war, as the tide turned, the locals revolted, and killed most of the Nazis. The remaining escaped into the mountains and were presumed to have frozen to death. Of course we all know what happens when you presume... that's right. You get attacked by zombies 60 years later. After the hiker leaves, the friends find a box of valuables, and german medals in a box underneath the cabin. Before too long a bunch of zombies in Nazi uniforms start showing up and killing people. The survivors split up and try to make their escape, but eventually just wind up fighting the zombies on a cliffside. Eventually the lone survivor realizes the zombies are after the treasure, and not them. He leads them back to what remains of the cabin, and gives them the box. They appear to leave him alone, so he runs back to his car. As he tries to start it a coin from the box falls out of his pocket... Oops!
This movie was ok. Nothing overly original, other than it had zombie Nazis. They set up a few jokes, and the machine gun on a snowbile scene was funny. The obligatory sex scene was a bit... odd. I kept waiting for the twist that didn't really come to it. Worth watching if you're in the mood for some zombie goodness though.
