Pneumonia update

I know I probably shouldn't be, but I am amazed at how quickly and how noticeably antibiotics go to work. I studied History at Uni and took particular interest to the scientific developments over time, but it's something else to really get a handle on how revolutionary penicillin must have been. Granted, it isn't penicillin that I'm on, but having only taken antibiotics twice before in my life (for an abcessed tooth and a skin infection), I think the proof of concept is there.

I can't get over how in less than a day I went from wanting someone to shoot me and put me out of my misery to moderate coughing and over all feelings of improvement. We are in such BIG trouble if superbugs continue to mutate making this stuff ineffective. My tonsils, while still enormous, are no longer rubbing against each other and have shrunk down to much closer to their normal size. I expect to continue to get some good sized tonsil stones out of them for the next couple days. My throat is no longer so raw and my appetite has returned, so I am no longer on the apple sauce and popsicle diet, thankfully. My chest is not making as much of that horrid crackling sound, though there still is some when I go to bed, but in general everything feels 'looser' for lack of a better term. My temperature is even coming closer to being normal for the first time in a couple weeks. The fevers were bad enough, but it was being too low that really weirded me out. I still feel generally tired, but at least I have enough energy to wash the dishes and cook real food, which I haven't had for a couple weeks. Much as I hate dishes, I don't like my kitchen looking quite that appalling.

Koo continues to stick close to me. It's nice to have a furry guardian, even if she does have the sharpest elbows known to dogkind and still believes that at 9 months and 55lbs she is a lap dog. She no longer seems to be stretching so much, and is starting to fill in nicely. Floe is shedding in great big chunks of white, polar bear fluff and leaving them everywhere. I know this can't be helping my lungs, but I also have enough energy to do some vaccuuming so I can get rid of the hair that is everywhere.

Thanks to everyone who expressed their concern. I am on the path to recovery, even if it will take some time to be back to 100% again.
