Warning: The post you are about to read is epic. Epically nerdy. Seriously. They say there is a thin line between brilliance and madness... and I'm thinking I've crossed over the line here. Well over the line. I have the restraint of a 6 year old and the resources of a 30 year old. This is never a good combination.
I regret nothing.
Camelot. Camelot! CAMELOT!
It's only a model... with a truly minature cow. We have some scale issues.
Merlin comes meadering into town... The scale here is a bit better.
And meets Arthur.
Then discovers his favourite place to hang out, and gets lectured by Gaius.
Arthur can't resist having a little fun...
But turn about is fair play.
And funny as hell!
Eventually Arthur shows him around.
Morgana shows us some of the architectural failings of the castle.
Arthur laughs at Morgana until she points out that without stairs he can't get in either.
Merlin checks out the tower.
And points out to Arthur that he is NOT Rapunzel.
Merlin wonders how he even got out here.
Some evil arrives.
In the courtyard it seems like fairly tiny evil.
But up close, it's more of a medium sized evil, at least for a knight.
Merlin seriously questions what on earth a torch is supposed to do to a creature that can breathe fire.
So he tames it instead. At this point, he does find more problems with scale as well as bendability.
Arthur claims victory and waves his sword around in front of the city gate to emphasize his skills.
Afterwards, Merlin figures he probably should have just given Arthur the magical sword. He's not impressed when Arthur askes what kind of plank sticks a perfectly good sword into a rock.
Still, nothing says love like an amazing sword, so they have a romantic cuddle on the battlements and watch the sunset.
This picspam was brought to you by Grade One Teachers Who Exploit Their Student's Work. My class built the castle as part of our unit on Fairy Tales as well as a wrap up to our Geometry unit. It's been in the classroom since early February, so it's a bit worse for wear. I tried to do some paint touch ups, but I didn't get the colour match very good on the grey. Oops. Our structure is rather lacking in the stairs department, as well as limited in its doors and windows. Still, I'm pretty pleased with this group project. Here are some progress pics.
I think it looked pretty damn awesome freshly painted.
Also, instead of a Valentine's party, we had a knights and princesses party. We made crowns and shields, which also turned out great. I don't even think my exemplar is that obvious here.
Thus ends the epic picspam of epicness. I spent over an hour after fiddle club setting things up, making a poor backdrop, doing bad touch ups and making stop gap stocks out of egg cartons. I'm very glad NO ONE was left in the school while I was doing this. Now my nerdy little heart is satisfied, and exhausted. This weekend, I'll work on a diorama for the boys to live in. After that, I'll check myself into the psych ward.
