Title: In Common
Rating: PG
A/N: Just a little FOL Drabble
“But we have nothing in common,” Blair complained.
“Nothing in common, hmmm. Well, from about ages eight to fourteen, I lay in bed every night and wished that my parents would stop fighting. Oh yeah, you did too. Every time I look at my father, I think, how can I love a guy so much when he has disappointed me so often. Sound familiar? Let’s see, the person who shaped me, who made me who I am, is a demented red-haired woman with a voice that could cut glass. How about you? And if I ever need a laugh or a sympathetic ear, all I have to do is call some goofballs named Natalie and Tootie. Does that ring a bell? Nothing in common, jeez.”
“So we have some shared experiences. That doesn’t necessarily mean…”
“There’s one more. I think the most beautiful, desirable, alluring person in the whole world is named Blair Warner.…And so do you.”
“Ha ha. I get your point.” She paused. “You really think that?”
“As pathetic as it is, I do.”
“All right,” Blair said, as she let me take her into my arms. “Maybe we have a few things in common.”
I spent the rest of the night showing her exactly what they were.
