Well, today at church we started a series called "Why are we here and what is our purpose?" The very 1st point was 'We are here to WORSHIP God.' Now, I am sure, if you are a Christian, you are like...'DUH' but it was followed by a quote by William Temple that summed it up quite well. That quote is:
"Both for perplexity and for dulled conscience the remedy is the same; sincere and spiritual worship. For worship is the submission of all our nature to God. It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness; the nourishment of mind with His truth; the purifying of imagination by His beauty; the opening of the heart to His love; the surrender of will to His purpose - and all is gathered up in adoration, the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable and therefore the chief remedy for that self-centeredness which is our original sin and the source of all actual sin. Yes - worship in spirit and truth is the way to the solution of perplexity and to the liberation of sin."
Yeah when I read that a flag went up in my mind. Am I really worshiping my God to the fullest? At times I feel like I am, but still feel a little empty. I know that I can give so much more to God when I am worshiping whether it be at church or at home. I often find myself being too lazy to read my bible everyday or to even really pray but I have come to the realization that, if you can't worship whole heartedly for at least 15 min a day to a God that is bigger than any of the problems that may come up in your life and to a God that bore so much on the cross then how is that same God going to pour out His immeasurable favor on your life?
I want to end this little posting with another quote that was in this series this morning.
"The best public worship is that which produces the best private Christianity."
If you are reading this...my challenge to you would be do not be afraid of what other people will think of you if you don't cuss like they do or whatever else the world say is 'popular.' If you live your Christian walk in the public eye you will be blessed beyond belief in your own personal walk with Christ.
That's all I got for this thing.
