I think what I miss most about home while being in Mayfield is my bunny.  His name is Poffertje because his tail makes me think of the little round pancakes -- they're really good, you know.

Anyway, he's really good company and I like talking to him.  We have pretty long conversations and it's nice to hold him because he has really soft and

[Canada is on her way outside to sit in the sun and sew for a while, so she's got her craft basket with her. She gets distracted listening to him on the phone, though, and by the time he's finished, she's just looking at him like his story is so sad it's breaking her heart a little.]

[Once the phone call is finished he'll sigh, going outside and lighting a cigarette.]

[She follows him, hesitating in the doorway.]

Ja, Canada.

Huh? I want to see that picture !

Don't have it with me. It's under my pillow at home.

Well you won't see, not ever.

[he promised himself he'd stay away from the phone today for his own sake but then he'd miss out on things like this. it's a relatively fair trade in his book.]

You don't come off as the fluffy bunny type at all, you know.

They're my favorite animals. I have more than one at home.

Ehehe, Poffertje. That's a cute name! It's better than the other ones you come up with!

[And he says this as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.]

Your bunny; that's right! I almost forgot about him. I really liked him, too...!

I hope he can come here. I have a few rabbits but I like him best.

I snuck into your house a few times just to find him and play. I really wish I had my pets here.
