Name: Date Masamune [伊達 政宗], One Eyed Dragon/Dokuganryū [独眼竜]
Age: Unknown, but roughly around his twenties. Twenty
Gender: Male
Fandom: SENGOKU FREAKING BASARA [戦国BASARA] (Anime-verse because I do not have the games orz)
Timeline: Last episode of season two, right after he defeats Hideyoshi and collapses from his collective injuries
History: Located here for your own convenience.

Character Personality: The first thing anyone can say when they meet Date is that he's insanely prideful, if not outright arrogant. His pride stems from his confidence that never ever seems to falter, and even when it does (and that’s for the most extreme circumstances, like when he meets the Big Bad of his world) it only takes a bit (and maybe some fighting) before he’s right back up on his feet again. He’s that kind of guy who goes all the way until the bitter end, though unlike what others may think he isn’t that wholly hot-blooded unlike a certain rival of his and actually does understand where his limits actually lie. While he still can fight, he’ll definitely do it, but if he knows that he’s at an impasse, he’ll usually know it’s time to retreat (though most of the time it is with much insistence from his buddy-cum-retainer).

Still, that doesn’t stop him from going to make sure that others are aware of just how awesome he totally is, and most of the time he’ll just do it in the way he knows best: ‘go straight’ in his words, and ‘go straight’ he certainly does. Whatever his current decision may be, you can guarantee that Date will see it though in the end with nothing else but the sheer power of his awesome and determination and power and at surprisingly oftentimes, his own cunning (usually with some help from buddy-cum-retainer, who is much better at tactics than he could ever be). Even if he knows there’s a trap ahead, he’ll just dive right into it despite the risks that he is wholly aware of-he’s just that confident, and he knows that he’ll get out of it well and good because he’s freaking Date Masamune.

Despite all of that however, Date does have his own code of honor that he abides by strongly in his own way, even if it’s a little looser than what others are used to. While he does do stuff like setting his own ‘traps’ and do a little trickery here and there, he only reserves it for battles he thinks deserves it and is considered more ‘fair’ rather than the opposite. Things like backstabbing and betrayals however are an instant no in his book, and doing that will certainly make something in him snap pretty badly. Even with how he acts, Date is still a samurai through and though-and though he has his own eccentrics, in the end he’s still a dependable man who honors and keeps his word once you manage to convince him well enough.

It’s also without a doubt that the man is a fine leader-pretty wild for sure, but the fact that he has a considerable (and fiercely loyal) force does display his skills as a good one. His excitement and battle cries are wholly infectious, and Date can easily get his men into the mood for a good fight once they see one coming their way. There is actually more to his hot-headed moments and instants of rashness, and it shows through these people who follow Date with pride and joy-and in return, Date treats them well and protects them.

Out of battle though, Date is surprisingly mature for his age and also a rather friendly kind of guy, even if he’s a bit on the blunt side more often than not. He might be a little hard to get connected to, but once you do something that he approves you can bet he’s going to be friends with you, even if his methods (sparring, most of the time) can get a little dangerous and sudden. He likes to challenge himself constantly, and if he whenever he meets someone stronger than him with a good heart it’s not going to be a surprise when Date is going to constantly challenge him after that, in order to improve himself. His own definition of what a ‘friend’ exactly means to him is admittedly a little hard to establish properly, but regardless of that once you have Date’s friendship, it’s a bond that will never break no matter what happens.

Character Abilities: As if one or two or three swords weren't enough, Date here uses six friggin swords - though he usually only draws out one of them at first, but when things get serious and heated up he'll take out all of them (dubbed henceforth as the 'Claws of the Dragon' by himself, his men and his opponents alike). They're not that long - shorter than the size of a regular katana, but they still do more then enough damage especially when Date channels his electricity powers through them (and this is only plausible because this is a Capcom game we're talking about).

With all of his six swords drawn out, he goes into a unique swordsstyle that has been down as the 'Six Swords Mode/Stance'. In this stance his attack drastically increases (at the cost of his own speed and evasion abilities as he goes deep into the offensive while doing this), and the fact that he uses six blades means that his attack time is cut down to one-sixth which means more damage overall. One might think this is all ridiculous, but Date somehow just pulls it off as well as Edgeworth can pull off his pink suits and frilly cravat and still have fangirls gush at him eternally.

It can also be easily assumed that Date has a fair amount of knowledge in tactics and military warfare, being one of the more well-known generals in one of the most famous war eras in history. Even if its nowhere as good as his retainer's, it still certainly counts for something. He's also a lot faster and stronger than most average humans, due to the era he lives in (as well as his position, no doubt).

Character Weaknesses: Being a leader of his own means that Date never had anyone to answer to, except for himself and maybe his retainer at times (though its like very very rare). This means that Date always usually has his way in things, and getting into a place like this where its more than possible that he has to follow the orders of someone else... given his personality, you can tell its practically a disaster in the making. He's a man who makes himself clear that he would always rather work on his own rather than with others (unless there are extreme circumstances involved, and those are pretty extreme), which mean that its hard to get him to work along with others.

His hot-headed tendencies can be a liability as well, and even though his skills and experience as a warrior make up for it quite a bit, he's still going to go up against something he doesn't know. Without his retainer at his side to persuade him otherwise, Date's obviously going to charge in head-on once he has the chance (and when he has enough confidence, which is something easily accomplished) and of course one can be sure this isn't going to end up with anything good at all.

Additionally, even if Date can keep his cool at times, there are still a few triggers in him that haven't really been set off just yet - and you can bet when it does, he will go on one hell of a rampage. When you get him pissed, he is a force to be reckoned with; but at the same time Date gets so caught up in his emotions that he fails to notice about the state of himself physically until when the damage has affected him extensively. While this doesn't happen that all often, its still definitely a bad trait that can easily lead him into some trouble one way or another.

All of that aside, what could possibly be his biggest and most glaring weakness however would be his dependency and irrationality on his trusted retainer, Katakura Koujurou. Also known as his Right Eye, one look at them will tell anyone exactly why Koujurou is called as such - Koujurou is the one person who Date trusts with his life, who he turns his back to and literally places his life in the other's hands. Koujurou has raised him in place of his parents, and so the retainer is somebody who he trusts pretty much blindly and sees him as somebody utterly indispensable in his life. He depends on Koujurou much more than Date will ever allow himself to admit properly, and if the whole incident with Hideyoshi and Hanbei is of any indication, Date is especially irrational over anything that concerns his retainer. This can be a great liability to Date, for anyone who is manipulative and crafty enough can use this fact to their advantage and needs should they wish to do so.

[ MEISTER SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Meister: Because he's freakin' Date Masamune - the goddamned one-eyed dragon who leads Oshu and its delinquent troops, and like hell if he'll let anyone use him (or in addition, himself to actually work with anyone at random like that). He's a leader through and through (even if he is still pretty wild and reckless at times), and there's no way he's gonna be working for others just because he's brought to some brand new world. Also despite all of his hot-blooded tendencies, and he's actually pretty level-headed when it comes to most things that don't involve hitting his berserk buttons - his rowdy attitude is just how he naturally is.

Meister Ability: Soul Boost - When wielding their weapon, their physical prowess is doubled, allowing them to move faster, hit harder, and jump higher.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
