Well, then why not fight it? If we're so doomed, there's no point in rolling over and taking it, right? If we can be happy for just a little bit longer... if everyone and everything can exist just a little bit longer because we fight, then we have to fight.

My father used to tell me something, when I was little. "No matter what, Shinji, you mustn't run away. Cowards don't accomplish anything in this world." And though we're hardly close... I really believe he meant what he said. We mustn't run away just because the future looks bleak.

No... that's exactly the reason why we have to fight even harder.

These two things aren't mutually exclusive, you know... The day we stop pursuing power is the day we die, right? You should think about the logical conclusion to that.

Because backing down is the last thing I'd do now, it's more like taking charge of what I've been given, implications be damned... I do sound like Simon, maybe, from some bizarre mirror-universe.
