Ryouma was in the gym, on the punching bag. Nothing new here, you've probably seen him in front of that thing loads of times. What is new is that he's currently not punching it. -Headed to the gym for a bout of intensive training, Setsuna pauses at the doorway, immediately detecting something amiss. He spots Ryouma panting in the corner, and feels his own muscles tense as he cautiously approaches.-

Are you alright? It sounds like you're in...

-His eyes fall upon Ryouma's injured hands, and then slowly drift to the ripped punching bag which seems to have all of the punch taken out of it. Setsuna frowns as he puts two and two together. He finally finishes his sentence in a dejected mutter.-

...pain.

[getter_beam]

-Ryouma doesn't even notice his injured hands, truth be told.-

Not really. I need a new bag, though. Cheap piece of shit broke.

[gundam_savior]

-Setsuna merely shakes his head.-

You're bleeding.

-He is quiet for a few moments, staring at the ground in contemplation before fixing Ryouma with an intense gaze.-

There's something you want to defeat, with every fiber of your being. Am I right?

-He checks his hands, with mild interest-

Huh, look at that, I was hitting harder than I thought I was.

You aren't right. If it was just someone I wanted to defeat, I'd just go out and defeat them, or I'd die trying. That's simple.

How do you defeat the future?

-Setsuna ponders Ryouma's question for a moment, and then responds decisively.-

You don't. You have to face it head on, for better or worse, and hope for the best. Win or lose, we've all got our obligations. There's no time for doubt.

But I DO have time for doubt! They don't send me out on normal patrols, half the bars in Tokyo won't let me in until I pay my tab, most of the dojos down there are scared of me. I have nothing to do right now! I have got cabin fever like you wouldn't believe.

-Setsuna chuckles a little, though he's quick to hide his smile.-

I see. So I take it you've been spending most of your time training, then?

-He looks warily to the punching bag.-

In that case, fighting inanimate objects will only get you so far.
