Character Information

General
Canon Source: Supernatural
Canon Format: Live action series
Character's Name: Robert Steven Singer (Bobby)
Character's Age: Not quite specified- I'd put him late forties to mid-fifties.

What form will your character's NV take? Just your run-of-the-mill cell phone with an extra button or two; something efficient and simple enough that Bobby won't feel like an idjit trying to work it in an emergency.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Bobby has no supernatural abilities, but he does have all the capabilities of a healthy Hunter his age. That includes a sharp mind (good memory for spells, curses, hexes, demons, etc.) and fast reflexes!
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? I'd like to give Bobby kind of a... sixth sense. Nothing all-encompassing like knowing when a game-wide trouble is approaching, or enough to godmod his way out of a conflict, but just something that could really help him out! Like a bit of intuition that maybe he needs to call one of the boys and see if they've gotten themselves into a fix, or feeling like that particular book is the best choice for researching a spell/creature/what have you. Little things that could contribute a lot in the long run- a lot like Bobby can be himself.
Weapons: One (1) 6-cylinder .45 Colt SAA, loaded. One (1) round's worth of extra ammo. One (1) flask of holy water. One (1) stick of chalk. Which I guess isn't entirely a weapon but it really has its uses.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Between this wiki and this wiki (Early Life and downwards), everything we know about Bobby's history pre-canon and in canon is pretty well-covered!
Point in Canon: The season 4 episode "Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean Winchester." In this episode, Bobby and the boys are, first and foremost, still dealing with Dean's return from Hell, not to mention what pulled him out in the first place (recently revealed to be an angel of the Lord, go figure). They have a lot of questions that haven't really been answered, and are generally getting used to Dean being back among the living once again.

...and then ghosts from the past start appearing to torment and try to wreak vengeance on all three of them, all marked with a strange brand. That makes up quite a bit of the episode- Dean, Sam and Bobby confronting people who died during cases they took on, old friends/loved ones, what have you. It provides a little extra insight into the kind of burden a Hunter carries and also some badass battling eye candy. After a close call or two, Bobby leads the boys to a ghost-proof panic room that he constructed, where further research reveals that this series of events has been caused by a spell designed to bring about the Rising of the Witnesses (that would be referring to the ghosts, who all witnessed and died to the unnatural)- a sign of the apocalypse. They eventually succeed in casting the counter-spell, but they still have the knowledge that someone, somewhere, intentionally brought about that sign. Dean learns from his angelic savior that night that the apocalypse is indeed impending, and that there's gonna be a lot of battles going on regarding it. At this canonpoint, Bobby is not aware of that yet, since it was relayed to Dean through a dream and the episode is left off with just the boys talking. He'll have gone to sleep after a hard day and suddenly be waking up in Siren's Port.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history:

Character Personality: Bobby Singer, for the most part, is one big case of "what you see is what you get." Gruff, down-to-earth, experienced and not prone to pussyfooting around in any situation, this is a man who became something of a ground control for Hunters all over America. He's dependable, smarter than you might think just from looking at him, and incredibly loyal to anybody he considers as close as family. He's also a bit on the paranoid side, likely due to many experiences with things to be hunted- it's a canon fact that he keeps standard Hunter weaponry nearby most of the time. His home is always stocked with spell supplies, not to mention the fact that he spent a weekend building an iron-and-salt fortified ghost-proof panic room in said home- and have I mentioned that he regularly (sometimes openly and sometimes more on the sneaky side) has guests drink holy water just to make sure they're kosher?

Yep. He's that kind of man.

He makes his first appearance in the series as an interesting but unembellished man. Presumably a Hunter for no particular reason, walls stacked with books and lore and weaponry, able to recognize a possessed woman with relative ease and apparently one to hold quite a grudge. He becomes a staple in the boys' lives relatively quickly- always there when they need him, willing to call bullshit when he sees bullshit and suprisingly intuitive when it comes to emotional situations, for all that he makes jokes about growing lady parts. Bobby knows when he really needs to back off and give someone space and when he needs to keep pressing his point (even if the timing feels cruel or ruthless). The closer he gets to the boys, eventually filling in a father figure role, the more you see just how much he cares about things in spite of his rough exterior. Sam and Dean never have to doubt that he'll come when they need him- do any research they need him to do, cast any spell, cover up any crime, pretend to be any sort of government official that they need- he'll do it without fail every time, and even if it isn't successful he can say he tried. He's not afraid to say that he loves them like his own sons and that they can always talk to him, even when they're being really stupid and frustrating.

Not to say that Bobby doesn't have a temper or a ruthless driven side to him when he needs to. He'll take down a supernatural creature without a second thought and if it's more painful than not, well. That isn't often something he's concerned with. Get him too pissed at you and he's liable to try to shoot at you- personal testimony can come from John Winchester himself on that matter. That coarse outer shell is mostly a case of "what you see is what you get," like I mentioned above, and that's just how it is. It's not to say he'll never forgive you or be willing to try to give a second chance, but it's fair warning that he doesn't deal in or with a lot of crap. Bobby isn't a man to give unshakeable trust to just any person, and the same thing is to be said of his respect. Once you've proven yourself to him, though, he'll swear by you and stick up for you as often as necessary, not to mention extend a hell of a lot of loyalty your way, too.

Like most Hunters, Bobby also seems to be living with a huge burden of guilt on his shoulders. A lot of it comes from not knowing what to do in his first experience with the supernatural, which led to his wife's untimely death, but there are also any number of innocent people in the past that died, that he felt he couldn't save. Losing people is a pretty big blow to him, especially when it's a person he cares about. While it's not the type of thing he typically lets show on the surface, hard hits effect him as much as anybody else: his typical outlets for pain, sorrow and frustration are overworking himself and drinking copiously.

Bobby is the kind of man who strongly prefers being of use. Later in the series after his selected canonpoint he loses the use of his legs, and it's revealed that he gave serious consideration to suicide a while after the fact. A lot of his work in the field involves answering phones and doing research, but I personally think that he also took some solace in knowing that if things went really wrong he could get up, run out the door with some supplies and at least try to save somebody's ass at the end of the day. It's a big insight into his character that I'm glad the series provided, even if I'm not quite at a point where I'm willing to play him out of that particular stage in canon right now.

Two other little bites of information are that he has a tendency to use the term "idjits" when faced with, well. Idjits, also known as dumbasses, also known as morons and fool stupid and you likely get what I'm aiming for here. When he's extremely frustrated or in a pinch, his go-to expletive is "balls." Those aside, long story short on Bobby Singer: gruff, weathered, experienced Hunter who cares more than he usually lets on and who isn't afraid to let on that he cares when it matters. He's remarkably loyal and forgiving enough depending on the circumstances, and always incredibly dependable.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game:
Character Plans: As far as plans for Bobby go, I can't say I have any particular goal in mind for his time in Siren's Port apart from just... trying to keep an eye on his castmates to the best of his ability. He'll be looking to get a day job or open up another salvage yard eventually, for sure, possibly do some after-hours creature hunting and definitely spend as much time as he can finding a) research materials and b) basic Hunting supplies.

[ The feed flickers between video and static for a little over a full minute- the seconds of video particularly filled with muttering, cursing and a particularly vehement uttering of "balls-" before it finally cuts out and seems to settle on voice alone. Say hello to the hoarse twang of Bobby Singer: irritated as all hell and not trying to hide it. He's halfway between addressing his Greeter and the communicator, temporarily more concerned with the Greeter. ]

So let me get this straight.

I've just been picked up and dropped off on a baseball field in Canada, nothin' on me but what I already had on me, with no way of gettin' outta this crazy craphole. If I stick around home plate too long I'm gonna run into trouble with a capital "Big," and this ain't because of some third-rate, lost-to-time magic spell or omen or seal or- whatever else it could be? And I'm supposed to just believe you about that.

I got a better alternative. You shut up and go back over to yer little corner while I get this straightened out, before I have to kick your ass back over there myself.

[ After a few moments he speaks up again, tone... not entirely friendly, but a little more suitable for addressing the public and not getting somebody pissed off in the process. ] What would come in handy right about now is a better explanation and a phone that'll actually make the calls I'm tryin' to put through instead of gettin' me connected to all this network nonsense.
