When you teach in south Texas, your letter home look like this:

To the parent/guardian of Alexis XXX,

I'm writing concerning Alexis' performance in my class these past few days. To begin, he's a really good student who produces great work when motivated and focused. Recently however, Alexis has been disruptive and distractive in my room. He's been talking, getting up without permission, and constantly turning around and disturbing others. I have spoken to him on many occasions and while he'll sometimes behave for a bit after these talks, he usually begins again. I wanted to inform you of his classroom behavior in hopes that with your help, we could encourage Alexis to continue to be the dedicated and diligent student we know he can be.

If you have any questions or would like to speak about this further, please do not hesitate to call me at XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Thanks for your time,

Justin Perricone
