Hiya. Um, if I'm not supposed to be doing this, please tell me so and I'll delete this post.

You should try Gaedhal's "Medium Security" or her "The Angel Stream" (the angel stream is similar to canon, medium security is so completely AU that it takes place in a prison in 1979.)

You could find both, along with her best story (and the best story ever) Queer Theories (which takes off from canon but goes AU around early - mid season 2) at her website www.fortruthis.com/gaedhal

Part of me hates to call QT au, to me it's like hyper canon. how ever I am a fool when it comes to that story :)

It is my favorite story ever. It is my favorite Brian Kinney and my favorite Justin Taylor and mphf.

It's been awhile since I checked in on QT, but isn't it still incomplete? I might be thinking of a different series . . .

QT is complete. It has a sequel, Queer Realities, which is complete, and then Queer Identities, which is still in progress. But Queer Theories alone is really really long. Really long. And is really really good. And the Brian Kinney in it is fantastic.

Ah, that explains my confusion. I was afraid of reading the first two (Theories and Realities) then needing Identities to wrap everything up. If the first two can be read without leaving a lot of hanging threads, I might give it a shot.

Really long doesn't bother me -- I love long, mega-novel length stories! Even though downloading all those individual chapters is a daunting concept.

Is it posted anywhere in fewer pieces?

This. I'd like to read it, too, but the prospect of having to save each chapter individually is, as Wjsc99 said, really daunting. =/

Gaedhal has a yahoo group, which if I remember correctly you have to send that you want to join it, but then you can download QT from the yahoo page as a pdf.
I don't remember what the address of the yahoo group is, but check her livejournal page, I'm sure she has the info posted somewhere (or I never would have found it).
I'd offer to email it to you but I'm not at home and I don't have access to my laptop right now.
