It is certainly the right of an author to remove any fics they choose. But IMO, they have no right to ask readers to not share their fics with others. Once a fic is published it has been put in the public domain and the author should have no expectation that they can control it's dissemination.
So, that being said, if anyone would like to send me Kirsty's fic I'm at ant_us@rocketmail.com. kthnx
Oh my god your icon is cracking me up. :P Also, my email is jaytee_fan145@yahoo.com. Just for, you know, reference. For the people on this page. *innocent*

The mods here respect the wishes of the author first. This author hasn't contacted us directly to ask us to discourage sharing her fic. If anyone is in contact with her, please ask her to contact either Court or myself, and we will uphold whatever she says.
That being said, I agree that once something hits the net, it's up for grabs. No one can stop anyone from copying or saving fic...however, if you know that the author doesn't want it shared, then don't share it or offer to do so publically. What you do outside of this comm is up to you.
So, sorry, but since Teinisydan said that the author doesn't want it shared, I'm going to ask that it not be done here.

I've heard that a few times around here, about this author not wanting her fics shared, but really, if the author hasn't said anything herself, how does anyone know? Maybe someone just assumed when the fics got taken down or whatever, and then it spread. It's been known to happen. This is the interwebs...

Unless she actually did ask or mention to someone specifically that she didn't want her fics shared. Does she have an LJ or a way to be contacted? I'll do it, for the sanity of the mods and comm.
I understand your point, and agree with it to a degree. But what I want and what rules I have to abide by are two different things.

I agree. It's like expecting people not to lend your out-of-print books to their friends just because you don't like that you wrote them anymore.
I'd like to read the fic again myself, so for anyone who wants to send it to me, my e-mail is LeneSLH@aol.com.
