Smarty introduced me to this game about 2 weeks ago and got me playing it with him in multiplayer on Panda's server. So far what we've done on there mostly consists of trying to blow shit up in the most epic ways imaginable and managing to crash the server doing it at least twice.
Here is a link to a video Smarty captured of some of our antics. I cannot embed it because every time I ask YouTube to give me the embed code, the screen goes white and won't load anything. Initially, when I tried the game in single player mode, I got frustrated because I'd start a game, manage just barely to survive one night cycle after frantically punching trees and hunting for visible coal deposits, and then get killed by monsters that didn't disappear when the day cycle came back. This happened about 6 times before Smarty told me I could set the thing to peaceful mode and play it with no monsters.
So I did this. I spent about 2 days just dicking around testing out what I could do before I got the hang of it, and got an IDEA. Initiate epic construction project.
Below are screenshots of my current progress constructing Awesome City, a group of houses inhabited by producers from Channel Awesome and Blistered Thumbs. Almost all of them are duplexes, since it takes a long damn time to build a house and the construstion materials available in the game limit just how much I can do. But at the same time... that's sort of a good thing. It's turning out to be a really fun creative exercise deciding who lives in each house and then designing it to reflect the personalities or other recognizable show features of the inhabitants. In some ways it's turning out to be kind of like writing really strange fanfiction using interpretive LEGOs. XD You'll see what I mean...
This is an overview of the city as it is so far. Obviously, not all of these structures are done yet.
JewWario & PushingUpRoses, with an elevated garden growing roses and Wario-yellow flowers.
View #1 of the house inhabited by Phelous and ChaosD1, with a resurrection chamber on the roof.
ChaosD1's side entrance. The door goes to a staircase that leads to the second floor and is not accessible from the bottom floor. Not all of the houses are like that. JewWario & PushingUpRoses share one entrance door, though I guess Roses could use Handsome Tom's staircase and jump over to the garden and use the garden access door if she wanted (see why I'm comparing this to weird fanfic?)
Handsome Tom & 8-Bit Mickey's house -- currently unfinished, needs moar roof, among other things. Tom lives on the 2nd floor, which, you'll notice, is about twice the height of Mickey's... ;3
Self-explanatory location overview. Needs moar streetlights on the top right...
And the Critic's castle ridge.
Panda & Welshy's house. The inside of the main structure is actually so tiny, it's barely more than two hallways in an L-shape. The main living spaces are both underground in a 2-storey basement setup.
I was trying to do something a bit weird with these two... their house seems short but that's actually because the first floor is one block lower than the street. Under this house is a HUGE motherfucker of a room which will eventually be set up with these blocks that produce musical notes, as soon as I figure ut how to do that. Apparently you can also rig them up to activate in a sequence and play a song if you know how to work the redstone power thingies, which I don't yet, but THIS WILL HAPPEN.
Image is self-explanatory.
Ditto. Though one thing you can't see is the GIANT FUCKING NINJA POSTER that takes up an ENTIRE WALL of Lupa's floor.
Panda & Welshy's sign. All the houses have markers. Some are more interesting than others.
Panda and Welshy have floating fences. Because.
Elevated view of what I've been calling the main street... Paw & Skitch's house on the left with Phelous' resurrection chamber visible behind, then Panda & Welshy's place on the right with JewWario & PushingUpRoses' place in the background.
