Don't cry no tears around me

Howdy y'all
Woah, the return of live music reviews to my 'journal'....also the return of facetiousness and saying things I do not necessarily actually believe. Actually that never left. At least I hope it didn't.
Anyhow, the story is I dug out my skinny jeans and black hair dye and went to give it a name. Yup, I sure did. I think I was the oldest person there, and it seems entirely appropriate that I am writing in livejournal about it.

Shit, I remember when there was this band with ridiculous hair who jumped around a lot but weren't as good as drive like jehu no matter how hard they tried, and even though some people liked them they split up before everyone liked them. After that the ones with silly hair and some sort of misplaced ambition went off to make wanky latin prog or something, and the others who couldn't be bothered to think of anything new to do became sparta, who still weren't as good as drive like jehu. I saw them once with qotsa, and the fact that I passed out later had nothing to do with it. Were they the best band of the day? Sure enough I'd say so. Entirely free from rockstar bullshit, and fairly catchy fairly rockin' songs. I certainly wouldn't have minded if they had played a bit longer though.

The guy from jimmy eat world still has the same hair. Does he know it's 2007? Ahahaha. They played all three of their songs, as well as some others. They started with one of them, the second was almost at the end and they finished with the other. It looked like they were having a fun time, and I think the audience was too. I think they like drive like jehu too, although there were maybe 3 seconds in the whole set where maybe you could have figured that out. They seemed like nice guys and put on a fun, unpretentious show, so I let the fact that usually I wouldn't listen to them slide.

Other honourable mentions go to mewithoutyou and hellogoodbye, who both have names where they forgot the spaces, but this is not why I am mentioning them. The former made good use of percussion instruments and were very likeable, despite dedicating songs to the lord almighty, and the latter looked geeky and had plenty of funtime keyboard stuff. I enjoyed both of their sets, although once again they were too short. Man festival sets are retarded.

Aside from that there was far too much poppy 'punk', bullshit rockstar posturing and crowd baiting. Luckily I had thin lizzy to keep me company in my head, with the guitar lick from the boys are back in town on permanent repeat during all the crap bands. Thank you phil lynott! I should listen to thin lizzy more often. I think that is all I have to say for now. I was gonna make some kinda lame joke based on some atd-i lyrics, but I decided against it. You should be thankful.

And...neil young songs: I wish that I could come up with a way to play 'world on a string' in standard tuning...it's a nice little song to play, but man that tuning up and down thing gets to me.
