hey y'all
I'm off up north to various places for a few days, until the 6th to be precise (thankfully down from the coma-inducing nine days which I originally agreed to, not really paying attention to what I was doing). During that time I will be most likely entirely internetless unless I can be bothered to find a cafe with a wireless connection. Useful considering I intend to be doing essays that actually count toward my degree. Anyways anybody who checks livejournal will now have no cause for complaint when I ignore them for that time, or at least that's the plan...nothing personal this time godamnit.
Hmm yeah and since this is a sunday as I write (technically anyway) and it being a holiday and therefore me having no radio show, this also contains another helping of music that may someday be worthy of your consideration. At least as far as I am concerned anyway.
Happy Flowers - ok so maybe they might just qualify as a comedy band, but the noisy garbage they hide behind their bizarre lyrics of childhoods gone so wrong are no joke. Live they could well be quite an experience I would guess. Their myspace page (y'know they never seemed like the kind of band that would have one to me) has a pretty detailed biography written by one of their (two) members, Mr Horribly-Charred-Infant, which made an entertaining read. The songs 'I said I wanna watch cartoons' and 'Charlie got a haircut' qualify as classics of some sort (maybe only in my little world though) and pretty much everything they have done is both funny and somehow true to life in a weird sort of way. Yeah that is what I said.
Ok actually I can't think of anything else I haven't mentioned before, but I will follow up on what I said last time about the Jesus and Mary Chain. Having since paid it closer attention, I can confirm that their early stuff is indeed awesome, so noisy and buzzy and overloaded with white noise and feedback that it sounds like its playing through laptop speakers even when it isn't. Also they write nice catchy pop songs, and sometimes you can hear that too. All the stuff up to and including their first full length album, psychocandy, now gets my official seal of approval. Man I wish that was a big deal for bands. Ah well.
Other news? I like to play Neil Young songs on my guitar. Well actually that isn't really news, but I think you all should be reminded of it, because it is as true now as it has ever been.
