Summary: Following the events in the Brecon Beacons, the team have returned to the Hub.

“Ianto?  Ianto!  Are you with me?”
Ianto opened his eyes slowly and turned to look at Jack.  “Sir?”

Jack smiled.  “We’re home.  Come on, let’s get you cleaned up.”

Ianto reached to open the door of the SUV but gasped as the pain in his ribs stopped him short.

"Hey," said Jack, concern clouding his face.  "That doesn't sound good."

Ianto grimaced.  "I think the painkillers Owen gave me are wearing off."

Jack got out of the SUV, jogged around to the passenger side and opened the door.  "Just take it slowly, and we'll go and see if we can find some more of Owen's magic medicine."

Ianto smiled weakly and allowed Jack to help him from the vehicle.  When he stummbled and swayed as he took his first step towards the Hub, Jack steadied him and pushed him gently back onto the seat.

"You know, you don't look so good."

Ianto looked up at Jack, struggling a little to focus.  "Thank you, Sir, but I'll be fine in a minute."

"I think we'll let the good doctor be the judge of that," said Jack, pulling his mobile from his pocket.

Five minutes later, Owen appeared from within the Hub.

"How's Gwen?" asked Jack.

"She'll be fine.  Tosh is going to finish patching her up and then I'll drive them both home."  Owen shuffled his feet a little and Jack was pleased to see that he at least had the good grace to look slightly guilty.

"Well Ianto's about to keel over, so perhaps you could lavish some of your attention on him?"

Jack moved aside, allowing Owen to step up to the open passenger door.

Owen turned to Ianto.  "OK mate?"

Ianto was surprised to hear what seemed to be genuine concern in Owen's voice.  "Never been better."

"So where does it hurt?"

"Listing where it doesn't hurt might be quicker."  Ianto's voice was becoming more ragged and his breathing less steady.

Owen nodded, flashing a pen light into each of Ianto's eyes in turn.  "How about the edited hightlights then?"

"Head, ribs and lower back."

"Any nausea?  Dizzyness?  Double vision?"

"No, yes and some."  Ianto kept his head still, not wanting to aggravate the throbbing pain at the base of his skull.

Owen reached into his bag, pulling out a syringe and a bottle of clear liquid.  "This will dull the pain, and then we can get you downstairs and check you over properly.  OK?"

Ianto nodded, regretting the movement imediately as his vision swam.

Half an hour of scanning, prodding and poking later, Owen stepped back from where Ianto, stripped to his underwear, lay on the exam table.

"OK, so you've got 3 cracked ribs, bruised kidneys - well, bruised pretty much everything actually - and a mild concussion.  You should probably be in hospital."

Ianto shook his head, glad that the painkillers had well and truly kicked in.  "No, no hospitals".

Owen wasn't going to let it go easily.  "Well you can't go back to your flat, not on your own.  You'll need watching with that concussion."

Ianto looked at Jack who stood quietly in the corner of the room.  Jack registered the silent plea in his eyes and stepped forward.

"It's OK Owen, he can stay here in the Hub.  I've seen enough concussions to know what to watch for."

Owen tried not to look too relieved at the prospect of relinquishing his patient and began to pack away his scanners.  "Well he needs his ribs strapping up and some of that balm" - he indicated a squat jar of pale yellow cream on the top shelf of a nearby cabinet - "on his bruises.  Can I leave you with that?  I want to get Tosh and Gwen home."

Jack nodded.  "No problem.  Go take them home.  And I don't want to see any of you until lunchtime tomorrow at the earliest."

Owen looked surprised.  "You sure?"

Jack smiled.  "I'll be sure to call if the world's about to come to an end.  Now scoot!"

Owen didn't wait to be told a third time.  He grabbed his jacked from where it had been thrown over the back of a chair and headed for the door.

Ianto waited untl the doctor had left before reaching out one hand toward Jack.  "Help me up?" he asked, his voice steadier now as the pain faded even more.

Jack put one arm under Ianto's shoulders and gently eased him up into a sitting position, his legs dangling over the edge of the table.  He ran his fingers gently over one of the many bruises that marked the young man's back.  "What was it?" he asked softly.

Ianto closed his eyes for a moment, trying to shut out the images that flooded into his mind.  "A baseball bat."

Jack moved his hand up to Ianto's neck, fingering the red line that showed just how close things had come to going fatally wrong.  "I'm sorry," he whispered, tears glistening in his eyes.

Ianto sounded surpised.  "For what?"

Jack snorted in disbelief.  "For nearly getting you killed!"

Ianto lifted his hand to cover Jack's, squeezing it gently.  "Nearly doesn't count," he said quietly.

Neither man moved for a few seconds, each listening to the sound of the other's breathing.  It was Jack who eventually broke the contact, moving away to retrieve the jar of balm.  Coming back to the table, he unscrewed the lid and scooped out a generous dollop with one hand.  "Hold still, OK?  Remember those cracked ribs of yours."

Ianto closed his eyes as he felt Jack's hands moving smoothly across his shoulders and down his back, gently rubbing in the cooling, soothing balm.  He felt his skin tingle under Jack's ministrations and the unmistakable beginnings of a high buzzed around his head.  "What is that stuff?" he murmered.

Jack smiled.  "Good, isn't it?  It mostly nothing special, but it does have one added ingredient that's out of this world, if you get my drift."

Ianto laughed.  "Is it supposed to make me feel like this?"

"I like to think of that part as just a nice added extra."  Jack stopped finished working on Ianto's back and stepped around to the front of the table.  "You might want to lie back down for this bit."

Ianto looked up at Jack, trying to ignore the ocassional flashes of colour at the edges of his vision.  Colour he could cope with, he told himself.  If things started to go dark then he would worry.  He slowly swung his legs back up onto the table and began to sink back down, grateful for Jack's strong arm moving to help him once more.  He watched as Jack took another dollop of the wonderful balm from the jar.

Jack started at this shoulders again, moving slowly down his chest.  Ianto closed his eyes, trying to ignore the new sensations that were now assaulting him.  That burn in his belly, and the quickening of his breathing, were definitely in his imagination.  Or they were just part of the high, the added extra that almost made all the pain worth it.  But as Jack's hands moved down, stroking gently over his nipples, he began to wonder if he was mistaken.  The strong hands lingered there, and Ianto knew that his body was giving him away.  Opening his eyes, he found himself looking into Jack's questioning gaze.

"Is this OK?"

Ianto's throat made a noise that sounded embarassingly close to a purr of pure pleasure.  Jack, of course, smirked.  "Was that a yes, or a no?"

Ianto closed his eyes again.  This was getting to be too much.  Maybe the pain wasn't worth it, after all.  But he did nothing to stop the "yes" escaping from his lips.

Jack grinned.  "Are your legs OK?"

Ianto eyes snapped open.  "What?  Yes!  Why?"

But Jack didn't answer.  Instead, he pulled himself up onto the table, straddling Ianto's thighs.  He settled himself down gently.  Ianto groaned.  He knew where this was leading and he knew that there was nothing he could do, nothing he wanted to do, to stop it.

Jack resumed his careful attention to Ianto's torso.  He skirted lightly over his ribs, wary of doing any damage that Ianto would not feel in his current state.  Moving further down, he reached his abdomen.  Here he traced the pattern of a clutch of long, angry bruises, his eyes flashing with anger as he thought of the man who had weilded the baseball bat and caused such vivid marks.  One of the bruises trailed over Ianto's left hip.  Jack followed it, pausing at the point at which it disappeared under Ianto's boxers.

Ianto whimpered when the caresses stopped.  His whole body was tingling now with the effects of the balm.  Every touch from Jack's hands was sending shards of pleasure through his brain and the sudden loss of that touch was almost painful.  He lifted his head and looked at Jack, realising that the man was asking his permission to go further.  He nodded slightly, and then dropped his head back down to the table.

Jack told himself that he wasn't taking advantage, that Ianto wanted this as much as he did.  He hoped that he was right.  He sat back slightly so that he could tug the boxers down over Ianto's hips, freeing his already heavy cock from the soft fabric.  Settling back down, he returned to the bruise on Ianto's hip, finishing his path along otherwise pale skin.

Glancing up at Ianto's face, he smiled at the sight.  His eyes were screwed shut and his face flushed.  His breathing was shallow and the pulse visible in his neck was rapid.  Jack returned his attention to Ianto's cock, which was now bobbing expectantly against his stomach.  Taking it gently in one hand, he stroked it slowly, squeezing and tugging as he felt is grow and harden against his touch.  He reached his other hand down and took possession of Ianto's balls.  They felt hot and heavy, and he caressed them with as much care and love as he had done with the bruises that had lead him there.

Ianto tried to control his breathing, but the heady combination of Jack's talented hands and the high from the balm were making it impossible.  He knew that he would not last long.  "Jack..."

Jack moved his hand up along the length of Ianto's cock, rubbing his thumb along the crease at the top, delighting in the pre-cum that was already leaking so beautifully.  He increased the speed and firmness of his strokes, feeling Ianto's thigh muscles contracting under his own as he tried to maintain some semblance of control.  But they both knew that Ianto was fighting a losing battle.

Jack felt Ianto's balls tighten in his grasp as his hips bucked and his back arched.  He came with a shudder that took over his whole body, spilling over Jack's hand and onto his own stomach.  But the intensity of the physical sensations was nothing compared to the fire that was exploding in his mind.  The flashes of colour that had been dancing around the edge of his vision flooded across his eyes, yellows, reds and golds fighting with greens and blues for supremacy.  He could feel the blood pounding in his ears and his breaths were coming far too quickly and shallowly.  The colours began to fade into blackness.

Jack lifted his hand to his mouth, licking the warm liquid from his fingers, smiling at the familiar taste.  But as he did so, he looked up and saw the colour draining rapidly from Ianto's face.  "Hey!  Ianto!  Come on, wake up!"  He clambered quickly down from the table, reaching out to place two fingers firmly against the young man's neck.  Relieved to find a strong pulse, he placed one hand on Ianto's shoulder, shaking him gently.  "Come on, open those beautiful eyes for me."

Ianto stirred, moaning slightly as his eyes fluttered open.  He smiled weakly at Jack who leant down and pressed a loving kiss against Ianto's lips.  "What happened?" he asked, his voice wavering as he tried to sound less scared than he felt.

Ianto took a few seconds to answer, waiting until his breathing was steadier.  "I think we just found another added extra of that balm."

Jack smiled gently.  "Good, huh?"

"You could say that.  But I don't think Owen will be too impressed - this probably wasn't what he had in mind when he left me in your capable hands."

"Well I won't tell him if you don't!"

"I'm not telling him anything.  If Owen knew what that balm could do, it wouldn't last a week."
