We have only just passed the time of Lughnasadh, the first of the Autumn harvest festivals. In ancient times this was viewed as a prime point in the year to arrange winter lodgings and marriages, and over time became a very popular time to schedule handfastings and other ceremonies. Anyone feeling particularly romantic, I wonder?

I, myself, have reserved the last seven days as a time of deep contemplation and personal meditation, so as not to disturb anyone else. It has also, with luck, been a time in which some of my projects in my own cabin and in the greenhouses appear to be flourishing. However, in all practicality, this is a holiday that was meant to be celebrated, so I have resolved to conclude this festive occasion with a party, the night after tomorrow, Saturday, on the main deck. You will find that your ages, whatever they happen to be at the time, should not burden you. It might serve as a warm welcome to our most recent arrivals.

I do seek volunteers. Persons willing to prepare and bring a dish, perhaps. If the pub would be so kind as to donate some strong libations, that would be quite fine. Musicians and storytellers would certainly be welcome, as well. Anyone with particular games they should like to introduce?

I would propose dancing naked under the full moon, as is tradition for some, but the bright lady is one accoutrement that the main deck, regrettably, cannot provide us.

[Private to the Admiral]

For what plenty has not already provided, I would like to request that you grant me extra supplies to bolster such an undertaking, food items and such. I realize it is probably not your way to overstuff the pantry, but you must admit that the goodwill would benefit you with perhaps a more peaceful ship, for a time.

my house is your house, on the committee, witches toy with words, no nonsense
