We headed farther north, convinced we were on James’s trail. Then, we suddenly lost it.
I looked at Edward. "Can you sense anything?"
He shook his head. "He’s either staying out of our range, or he’s completely gone." I saw how much this was troubling Edward.
I nodded. Then Carlisle’s cell phone rang. He spoke in a calm voice while Emmett, Edward, and I waited impatiently.
"It’s Alice. She’s had a vision."
Edward looked at him sharply. "What did she say?"
"He’s going to Arizona."
Edward hissed. "Then so are we."
We ran to Forks and quickly explained everything to Esme. "Stay here and watch Charlie," Edward said.
"I won’t let him out of my sight," Esme promised. Then she kissed all of us good-bye. "Be careful."
"Don’t worry Mom," I said hugging her.
Edward grabbed his keys and we all crammed into the Volvo. Going about three times the legal speed limit, we raced to Seattle’s airport.
I thought Edward would nearly burst with anticipation, so I suggested he call Alice. "Let them know we’re coming," I said. "That way, they’ll be prepared."
Edward nodded and I turned away to give him privacy.

We arrived at the airport in Arizona and we raced to where Alice and Jasper were. But something was wrong. Alice’s face was agitated, and Jasper seemed guilty. And Bella was missing.
It didn’t take Edward long to notice that last detail.
"Where is she?!" he demanded.
Alice looked at him, her eyes pleading. "I don’t know Edward. She asked Jasper to take her to get some food. Then she told him she had to use the restroom. He waited for her, but when she didn’t come out, he called me to see if she was ok. I went in there, and she was gone."
Edward looked absolutely terrifying. Alice reached into her bag. She held a letter out to Edward. "I have no clue what it says, but it might help."
He ripped it open and his face paled. "No Bella."
I looked at him quizzically.
"She went after James." He read the letter aloud. He looked so confused. "Alice, please tell me you know where she went."
She closed her eyes. "A ballet studio."
"Where is it?" Carlisle asked. "There’s bound to be more than one ballet studio in Arizona."
She flashed the images across my mind as well as Edward’s.
"Alice, I need more," Edward began.
He then whipped around as the door opened. He caught Bella’s scent, I knew it. Then he ran. I followed as did the others.
"Addison! Get a car!" Alice yelled.
I nodded and quickly hot-wired the closest car I could find. (Well, it was a fast car of course.)
Alice drove, having seen where Bella was. Edward was shaking with rage, and Jasper didn’t dare calm him down.
"Edward, she’ll be fine. We’ll save her," I whispered.
We stopped in front of the studio, and the smell of blood overwhelmed me. I held my breath and heard the others do the same. We ran in.
I waited in the main room of the studio while the others raced into the room where Bella was.
I heard growls. That was Emmett. Then he and Jasper drug him into the room where I was.
I smirked and flexed my hands. We locked the doors and I walked forward casually.
"You think you can mess with my family or someone we care about and get away with it?" I asked him in a deadly voice.
He merely glared. I smirked. "Now you’ll see what happens when you mess with us."
I lunged at him, grabbing his arm with a feral snarl. I twisted it hard and heard a bone crack. Emmett punched him in the stomach and he flew against the wall.
James stood up and made for me, but Jasper lunged and kicked him, sending him flying into the desk.
I grabbed him by the front of his shirt and shoved him against a wall.
"Here Emmett." Emmett grabbed him for me and I punched him in the jaw, cracking it. I kneed him in the stomach and he fell to the ground. Then all three of us ganged up on him and began to kick the shit out of him. He let out howls of pain.
Then, when we had our fun, we bent down. I grabbed his left arm and leg, Jasper grabbed his right arm and leg, and Emmett grabbed his head. Then we pulled until he was in pieces.
I went to the car and brought in the gas cans. (We grabbed some from someone’s yard on the way here.)
Emmett and Jasper sprinkled it around while I went to check on Bella. She was in bad shape.
Edward was softly stroking her hair. His face was pained.
"We got to move her," I said. "This place will be an inferno in about ten minutes."
Edward nodded and bent down to picked her up. He ran out of the building, and glanced at James. Alice grabbed a video camera that was on a stand.
"Nice work," he said glaring at James’s unrecognizable body. I nodded.
"It was quite fun, but this will be more fun. Stand back." I lit a match and threw it in the building. It went up in a huge burst of flame, the glass shattering.
Emmett jeered I smirked. "Good-bye James."
Then I hurried back to the car.

Bella’s mother came out of her room, tears in her eyes. Edward and I looked at her.
"She’s still asleep."
I walked over and put a comforting arm around her. Edward went into Bella’s room.
"She’ll be okay," I said soothingly.
"I know. But it’s so hard seeing my baby like that."
I was silent.
"Thanks for helping her."
"It was no problem. She’s a great kid."
Renee smiled and I smiled back. But I was thinking of the boy from the woods as well.
