This was the day I realized there was no way in hell I was going to have the last book ready in time, and decided to start doing this commentary to tide you guys over. Why the hell am I still here?
Belle's fate was, of course, inspired by the story of Pope Joan, who we're pretty sure was just an urban legend. You guys can speculate all you like, of course. In fact, there were a lot of Popes around in the late 14th and early 15th centuries (sometimes three at once), so the possibilities really are endless.
