Well, she may be a nice girl, but she WAS the accountant for Asher's dad. I seriously doubt she was not fully aware, and comfortable with, the fact that she was working for for an organized crime syndicate.
Also aren't they still technically "Asher's people" I though our geologist had simply been given control of the day-to-day stuff and the empire was still Asher's...?

I just read something similar, but it was more about how Mexicans in Texas crossed the border without moving and the different ways they adapted.
