i think if someone asks your opinion about their hair you should straight up tell them. like if it looks bad, don't let then walk around all day and not know. because if i go into the bathroom 4th block and see at rat's nest on my head my first though is 'fuck, why didn't anyone tell me about this?!' the same thing goes for tags sticking out. be a pal and tuck it in. even if the person is a complete stranger. they'll think you're a total creep at first, but later they'll appreciate it.
