Hi friends.
I am just working myself out of total-grog phase, as induced by a whirlwind weekend. Beau and I headed north to record lovely strings for our album. We picked up our buddy at that ultra-trashy casino and landed in Northfield Friday evening.
Our string-playing friends live at St. Olaf. Beau and I had a mutual feeling that that place isn't college, it's camp. Charming little place. We kept getting kicked out of rooms, though. We tried setting up in the music room, but security gave us the boot around 1:30am. Then, Saturday, we got asked to "pack up" our camp in a dormitory lounge. "No practicing," said the monitor, although there's a public piano sitting right in the adjacent room. Lame.
I do love Northfield, though. Pretty pretty. I'd live there come May if our singer didn't refuse to move to Minnesota. (I can't give up Ely Falls for geographical reasons ...)
Now I have to face more homework than is possible to complete today. Wish me luck. The tricky part is, tomorrow I have to work for nine hours, then play a late show in Iowa City. Then wake up for class at 9am Tuesday. At least we're opening a respectable band such as Kayo Dot. Oi.
