Ah, and the library grows.
I was surfing through one of my favorite book sites the other day (
Weiser Antiquarian Books), and found some really eye catching titles. So yesterday my new books arrived. :) Yay! I even found a cool one for Tony for x-mas/yule, though since he reads this from time to time I can't mention his yet. :(
Anyway...
New books to read (or currently reading) are:
The Way of the Shaman: A guide to Power and Healing by Michael Harner
The Shaman's Doorway: Opening Imagination to Power and Myth by Stephen Larson
Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy by Mircea Eliade
(are we seeing a trend here...it was a subject on my mind that day...and I figured what the hell...if I was being threatened with it, I might as well learn what the heck it was all about).
Drumming at the Edge of Magic: A journey into the Spirit of Percussion by Mickey Hart (cause I've been fascinated with drumming in its various aspects since Mythical Journey's and Piercing the Veil--and it soo greatly helped me out during my time under the needle at Body Transformation Weekend.)
The Body of Myth: Mythology, Shamanic Trance, and the Sacred Geography of the Body by J. Nigro Sansonese
Sacred Pain: Hurting the Body for the Sake of the Soul by Ariel Glucklich (thus far fascinating book, if a bit one sided, on the history, psychology, and intentions of those who use pain as a religious transformation vehicle.)
and finally:
Myth and Religion of the North: The Religion of Ancient Scandinavia by E.O.G Turville-Petre
My bookshelves aren't even installed yet, and I am probably going to need to have more built....ACK!
