a/n It's been a traumatic week for Naomily fans, thanks to She Who Shall Not Be Named, and I thought, what better time to jump into the fray? Word to the wise: stay strong, kids. Effy's only role in this is to be a purveyor of narcotic plants. This is obviously my first foray

To elaborate on that--since it won't make me blush/get me fired--getting a new contributor with a clear perspective that isn't overly influenced by other parts of fandom is perhaps the reason I'm most happy you got this done. Sometimes I notice that I start to adopt 'fanon' from other people and I'm most certainly not alone in that; when it happens too often, fandom becomes a blend of assumptions with absolutely no originality left. So, not only did I find this incredibly pleasing to read because of your superb grasp on and manipulation of that little language we have in common, but I am also very happy to see that you have a very distinct voice for Skins (just like you do elsewhere).
Keep on keepin' on, G. Now excuse me--I'll be somewhere near my bunk, or at least pretending I'm NOT in my office.

I honestly don't know what you were worried about;
Offering something new and cool. Something that did not bite.
I'm *immensely* pleased that you're able to look at this as a finished product and not think, Gah, I saw this in it's barebones/rough draft state, and somehow be less impressed. I'm just pleased as punch.

I'm winning on one of those points. Losing? Prob.

It could be silly to worry about semantics of characterization in fanfic, but I mean, WTF is the point if you're going to mischaracterize? You might as well be writing originals if you take a character too far off the page.

THe problem with fandom is that it's so damned pervasive. Around-the-clock food for the mind, and it's hard not to get sucked into something, or to philosophize or whatever, and I think we all start to take in things that we didn't necessarily intend to espouse.
Get out of your bunk, Jayne!
PS- Thank you for the wonderful, fabulous comment. As you know, I love to chat about these kids.
