Fourth Sin - [Action/Voice]

Nov 15, 2011 21:10

[It has been some time since Ganondorf has been in the village. After accepting a mission on the second, he merely took his leave the next day without communicating his absence to anyone. He made assurances his steed would be able to survive on his own and that was that. So after twelve long days of combat, he is finally back in the village late in ( Read more... )

[Wynne had not been conscious for long before finding her way through the woods and along the path to town. She was old, but she was not fragile, nor was she new to tramping about in the wilderness. Though, if we're to be completely honest, it wasn't something she enjoyed doing on her own.

The Malnosso don't seem to be entirely heartless, however; they were kind enough to set her Circle robes to the side, though the holes for her wings she had to tear herself. The journal dangled in her hand; voices trapped within the pages, surely the work of some powerful magic, best not to mess with it until she was certain of the consequences.

Ganon is, fortunately or unfortunately, the first person Wynne sees upon her arrival in town. Her healer's eyes pick up that limp at first glance. Wynne is, by nature, a kind and morally upright woman. New to this place or not, and even with that strange sort of disconnect to her magic, she wouldn't ignore an injured man. It's simply not right.

Besides, it's not as though she was helpless. She sets her own bewilderment to the side for now to call out to him.]

It doesn't look as though you always walk like that.

[It is not enough that he is still fresh from a mission, but the time spent in the dome has only tired him out further. So when he hears a woman's voice calling for him, he is feeling a bit ragged and not entirely patient. He takes a moment to study the old woman... she reminds him of a Hylian. Pah.]

The manner in which I walk is not your concern, woman.

[Wynne has more than enough patience to deal with Ganon current lack of. This isn't the first irritable man she's come up against. Though it makes it no less irritating.]

Perhaps not, but it will be if you end up collapsed on the road. As well as the concern of anyone else who may see you.

Allow me to offer an alternative before it comes to that.

[He may as well be a Qunari for how stubborn (and tall) he is. She may wish only to help, but he has his reasons to keep his injuries to himself.]

I have sufficient strength to reach my destination. I do not require the charity of others.

[Nonsense, Wynne will make this her business whether you like it or not.

Gently.]

Not charity, then; if you'd like, we can make an exchange.

[She's a stubborn one, isn't she? He crosses his arms, glaring down at her and wondering what it is that makes her so bold.]

Why so eager to help one who is merely a stranger to you? You may very well find you regret the generosity later.

[It takes more than a couple of snippy remarks to make Wynne recoil.]

Perhaps, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. Believe it or not, I've never taken much pleasure in seeing someone else suffer.

[Well what a coincidence. Ganondorf has taken pleasure from it.]

You are indeed persistent, old woman. [He closes his eye and untightens his jaw. Perhaps it will be simpler this way. She seems harmless.] Do as you wish, then.

So I've been told. And I'd prefer "Wynne", if you would.

[Old woman. Really. Can people not see anything beyond her age.

But no matter. Rude behavior or not, the man was still in pain, and that was more important than social niceties. Wynne concentrates and sends a stream of healing magic to him.

It's harder to focus the magic without a proper staff, and Wynne can feel instantly the faded power of her spell, but she does have a talent for the branch; the magic should more or less serve its purpose.]

[Effective as the magic seems to be, some of his injuries linger. After all, he was walking on a broken bone with a splint hidden under the robe. Still, there is a sense of relief there.

Yet he can still feel the pain of the Sage's Sword in his chest...]

Wynne Very well. Is that all there is to it?

I'm afraid it's all I can do for now. [Her magic lacked its normal impact; not only that, but it seemed like the Fade Spirit within her was just a little more drained. She didn't wish to push the issue any further.]

You said you didn't wish for charity. You could tell me what this place is, if you're feeling in a helpful mood. Or you can continue on your way; I'll not stop you, should you choose that option.

[... ah, a New Feather then. Well, he can spare her some details. Her magic didn't end up as intrusive as he thought it would.]

This is a world beyond worlds, separated from our realities in some twisted mockery. We are at the mercy of 'scientists', enclosed in a magical barrier stretching in all directions, indestructible by any powers. The place we reside now is called Luceti.

[Another world. Wynne is no stranger to it, having walked the Fade as a mage, but this still is not something she's prepared for.]

...A hard tale to swallow, but I suppose it explains several things about this situation.

You are free to trust it or doubt it. It makes little difference for me. These injuries were taken as I fought the enemies of our own captors, in a war beyond our power to stop.

[Wynne has no reason to disbelieve him yet, and this was certainly a strange enough situation that the idea of it being another world had some merit.]

I see. So they'd use their captives to fight their own battles. Not an uncommon practice.

Those must have been painful injuries. [She says this with nothing but gentle sympathy.]

[He sneers at her sympathy. It's like she's talking to Sten or something.]

They are the price of mistakes and failures. They will continue to be so until they are fully healed.
