A hilarious tale of Hokey's house manners

I admit I have done almost no training with Hokey. It really wasn't necessary. Case in point...

Around midnight, while I was on the phone with Josh, I noticed he was happily tearing apart a popsicle wrapper I had left on the floor. He was calmly scolded and the wrapper removed, and I continued with my conversation. Hokey very rarely touches anything that isn't given to him (this is only the third time in 9 months I've taken something from him). I made a remark to Josh that he knew he was in trouble and didn't think about it after that. Around 1 am, I noticed Hokey wasn't glued to my side as usual but since it was time for his "bedtime snack" I didn't think this was odd. I go out the kitchen, mix some canned food with his kibble for his snack before his last walk, and put the bowl back in its normal place. Silly, over emotional, Hokey goes to the bowl but doesn't eat. I tell him a couple times to eat, but still nothing. So I sit on the floor in the living room, he comes over and puts his head in my hands. I pet him, tell him I'm not mad at him for the wrapper, and tell him he can go eat. Sure enough, that's all it took. His food was woofed down in normal fashion and he's back to lying under my desk chair.

How did I get such a well behaved dog? :)
