Banning, Phleps pot smoking, sex and hypocracy

Feb 01, 2009 20:43

I'm about to be banned from my first community!!  This is SO exciting!!

And I HAVE to report here, because I'm so giddy, because really, when do regular, pretty nice people like me who always obey the rules get to be treated like trolls?

What horrible thing did I do, you ask?  I'll show you and let you decide.

But first, a small disclaimer, I hardly ever post on the community in question because I consider them highly hypocritical -- they can detail down to the last pubic hair a favorite sports figure and make ALL sorts of sexual comments and that's totally appropriate.  Have a newspaper print that the guy is dating a stripper and "OH, NOES, THE WORLD IS ENDING AND THIS WILL HURT HIS WIDDLE FEELINGS.  WE DON'T SUPPORT GOSSIP!111ONE!!!"  So, I mostly look at the pretty pictures, ignore the embarassing fan girl comments and keep to myself.

So, did my favorite Olympian smoke pot from a bong in November and get outed this weekend?  Well, yes.  But because the newspaper that broke the news yesterday quoted other party goers saying Bad Things(tm) about His Swiminess, it can't be discussed or posted about in
mphelps_fans . THAT is hearsay and we can't have personal opinions in our news, even if the person was reporting what they saw!

Now, since Mr. Phelps has issued an apology and THAT was picked up by a "reputable" new source, some discussion is allowed -- but DON'T bring up the original source, because well, remember those Bad Things(tm).

So there was a lot of rending of clothing and gnashing of teeth and "Get that boy away from those awful people!!one!!".  And someone posted a "I don't get the big deal" comment and then HERE COMES THE TRAGIC SIN I COMMITTED!!!:    I admitted that I went out on the internet looking to see what other blogs reactions were because we weren't allowed discuss it on the mphelps_fans  sexual fantasy blog, Here is my comment in total:

I'm with you... when the rumors first came out (and we were told here not to discuss them) I checked several other big news and blog sites. Most comments were along the lines of "He's 23 years old, he's not in competition, it isn't crack or heroin, what's the big deal?" It's on his personal time, and doesn't violate swimming rules, it just doesn't matter.

Inflammatory, eh?  Pushy?  Rude? Picking on the MOD?  Stirring things up?  WOW, am I the BITCH!!!  And WHOA, was I slapped down.  This is what I got back:

I'm sorry, but did you also happen to actually read *why* I said the article was not to be posted?

I specifically said that the article was not be posted due to the amount  of hearsay about Phelps's behavior during that weekend, most specifically  about his behavior during the party. The only reason I decided to post  the AP article is because Phelps owned up to it being him in the  photograph, and apologized for what he did. The difference is huge.

As far as I'm concerned, being the community owner, I will *still* not permit the News of the World article to be posted here because so much of  it's content is unsubstantiated gossip. I will only allow fact. And  gossip is *not* fact.

So therefore, if you have a problem with the rules of this community, you're more then welcome to leave. Otherwise, I can show you the way out.

Your choice.
Well, that put me in MY place, thank you very much.  Only, I had trouble stopping giggling long enough to do anything else.  I'm sure you'll all be defriending the TROLL that I am shortly, so feel free to leave me a REALLY good flouncing diva comment before you slam the door in my face. (But I don't think you can beat the above!)

ETA:  One of the other posters came in with a comment of "I don't think gershwhen said anything rude" and SHE got slapped down too.  Ohhhhhh.   I'd report more, but I've bailed on the community before I spent the evening watching them cannibalize each other instead of just letting the 23 year old guy smoke his pot in peace .
