Today in shul

Nov 07, 2006 15:59

Was davening at a local shul today when a meshulach approached me. The reason: he has large debt because of fertility treatments. Is it a good enough reason to collect? Or, to put it better, is it a good enough reason to get into huge debt in order to get fertility treatments? Should we, the working, money earning Jews give this guy money so that _maybe_ he's going to have kids whose education and life while learning in kollel will be paid (surprise, surprise) BY US?

This I just don't understand...
